Evgenia Medvedeva

I know this is weird. It's weird seeing her nervous, and not breaking a WR everytime she skates, and not having sky-high PCS.

This is just the beginning of a new journey. She's coming back from massive injuries, she's changed countries, she's changed coaches, she's re-tooling her tech, she's doing different and challenging programmes, she started training late. TBH, she did amazingly well considering the circumstances. MANY other skaters would have crumbled, male and female.

I'm actually glad she made mistakes and was scored accordingly. This is important feedback for her team. This is what B comps are for. I'm sure they will look into the protocols and readjust a few things.

True that! After reading the Hanyu thread about his early days with Orser I felt a lot better. Most of the negative comments to Evgenia were said of Hanyu during those early days. Hopefully she follows the same trajectory as him.

Guys, I’m not into anime or cartoons & have no idea what Luna the cat is about or why Zhenya carries it to competitions with her. How long has she had the plush blue car?

I think you meant "cat"?

I'm not sure how long Zhenya has had her as her talisman, but Luna is a character from Sailor Moon and is the animal companion of the protagonist, who Zhenya so famously skated as in her Sailor Moon EX.

I like her new style, I'm sure she'll continue growing step by step. Today she looked really nervous and gave a great performance anyway. Go Zhenya 💪🏼

I see that her 3T is completely rotated, looking the blade direction in the landing, she landed when she should, her toepick also looked much better, the problem was the coupling when making the combination, it was slower and heavier than normal, it shows that she was nervous and almost hesitating in her combo.
She must gain confidence in her 2A, in practice she looks very good and bigger than before.

I also think that she should change to a 3Loop in the SP, even if her BV goes down, because she can get more GOE and therefore, a better score in TES, it would be nice to accompany this with an unusual entry like a hydroblade or cantilever, she should ensure all the points she can in SP.She can leave the 3Lz in combination for the FS, since there she will have more opportunities to recover the jumps that go wrong, it's also not a good idea that her 3lz disappears, she must get used to using it, not hiding it.

I really expected at least a 3Lo-3Lo combination, she can do it, we'll see how they play with the layout, I'm very curious.
Things that I think will obviously change in the layout: transitions, previous steps before the jumps. The layback and Biellmann will return as the season progresses. Maybe they play a lot with jump combinations.
I just hope that for the world we see the real package of programs:luv17:

I think the program is still evolving ... it's not perfect ... but I think it can be a great program .. she change coach, country, style ... it takes time to become your best competition self ... and she presented the program in Canada maybe for a russian a very difficult place for scoring except f you are Osmond ( then you can fall and score high in Canada)
I like the dress

I‘m going to bed now because as much as I‘d want to stay up and watch her I have a rough day tomorrow and are a bit ill, too, so I won‘t make it. Just stopping by to wish her good luck in the FS! :)

I don't know if it was posted or not but when I read it, it give me hope

"It's clear that the changes that are taking place now will take quite some time," the Canadian remarked after Zhenya had not completed the short program very successfully. "I do not even mean that in life Medvedeva has changed too much. It's just that people who want to see results here and now forget, it seems to me, that this girl did not skate at all for several months after the Olympic Games. I know this for sure, because in April we with Medvedeva played in one show. All that at that time she could do was basic steps and rotations. And even this gave her apparent difficulty. When a person spends so much time without jumping, it's extremely difficult to return to normal skating. She made it. I did brilliantly - this I say as a person who carefully observed in Oakville for her training. She managed not only to keep the technique, but to improve it. Jumping became really big, and in general, Zhenya looks stronger. Perhaps, while this does not manifest itself too much in the competitions, but trust me as a professional: Medvedev is doing everything in the right way. She only needs a few starts, so that the condition is fully restored and unnecessary stress is gone. Where exactly to move, I think she knows much better than all of us.

Group 4 is about to warm up. I have the live stream cast to my tv. The video has been working great! Fingers crossed!!!
