Evgenia Medvedeva

There's no entry list for Japanese Nationals on the ISU site. Are you thinking of NHK Trophy? That's the GP event, not Nationals.

*sigh* I am not very smart -.-. There WERE Japanese Nationals in which Yuzu didn't participate...it was in 2016. I didn't check the date. I'm really sorry >.<!

Doesn‘t matter at all, it happens to everyone of us sometimes.

Not that I know. I was thinking maybe one of her pigs bit her in the nose, haha! So many possibilties....

Probably just a superficial cut. She looks happy in that picture, so I doubt it is anything serious.

That would be very funny hahaha. My cat does the same, gets over excited when I caress him and ends up biting or scratching me:laugh:.
I think it's nothing serious, it can be just a little scratch or just a grain.
------
I watched Zhenya's FS again, noticed that she has added difficulty to several jumps, in her first 2A she uses a Counter with edge change as Entrance (difficult entry), the landing is bit smoother and fluid than before, and adds a Swing in the exit. She used this entrance and exit a lot in the past seasons.
(This is counted in both GOE and Transitions, so she hits 2 to 3 bullets, and also adds a complex transition, she's recovering form, and going for more:agree:)

Great analysis!

I just read a comment on a repost of Evgenia’s pic that there’s flu going around in TCC and since athletes are not allowed to use nasal decongestants (may test + for doping), they’re opening up their nasal passageways using bandages.

Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but better than Evgenia having had any accident. Also, I hope she stays healthy amd doesn’t catch the flu!

The flu?:slink:

Jump coach? I‘m sure he‘ll work with her at some point, too. At the moment I think they’re too many things going on they need to work on. But maybe he could help her with her lutz edge in the future. Maybe the off-season will be enough time to fundamentally change her technique. To me it seems her entrance to the lutz is different from what most skaters do. They usually start off an inside edge and then change to outside short before take-off. Zhenya however is gliding for a very long time on the outside edge, trying to hold it and then changes to inside slightly before she takes off. I‘m not a specialist and I have no practical knowledge, it‘s just something I noticed while watching her lutz and the ones of others.

Apparently he was the one who worked with Satoko this summer on her jumps. That was pretty successful since Satoko did not have any under rotation calls at Skate America (but had an edge call on her flip for both SP/FS). I am sure Evgenia is getting all the help from Brian, and if Ghislain would be able to help in the future, that would be great!

Thanks for letting me know! I’m glad to hear that. My report was strictly on the practices I attended, which was not Thursday. I mainly made the point to note her focus not so much to say she didn’t want to meet with fans of course. She is quite a warm person, but still a competitor!

Mrs. P either on this fan fest or on the Russian ladies thread, you posted something about Zhenya being very charismatic in person. Can explain what you saw that impressed you so much?

She's a very expressive and musical performer. For me that was a standout compared to the other Russian ladies I'd see up to that point. When I look back at Russian ladies, the ones that stand out in my mind are Adelina Sotnitkova because she skated BIG -- just kind of express herself through such big ice coverage/presence and then Zhenya because she was really good at performing. I always felt the choreography she had at times shortchanged her natural performance ability.

ETA: Also Liza T. and Anna P for their huge jumps!
