Evgenia Medvedeva

Sigh. As far as I am concerned, today is bad news. Alina's PCS is climbing and this is pretty much what I've been talking about all long. Zhenya's advantage are her PCS but Alina's eating at that difference and fast. If she loses Euros, which is now a definite possibility, we're in a pretty pickle come Olympics.

I never worry about raw PCS b/c scoring is whatever, but it's shocking to see her PCS advantage so swiftly being dismantled. Her injury keeping her out of the GPF (an event she would've won in even flawed form) may prove a major issue, but we'll have to see.

But alas, I was proud to see her deliver a clean-ish skate and she radiates on the ice.

that wasn't clean, strictly speaking....even with successful jumps, her landings were shakier than what I used to see. I'm worried about saturday :sad21: :sad21:

You guys I have seen so much improvement in Evgenia, literally so much. Even her not so big fans have said this. Can I just say that I am so proud of her. I do not crae about the result. She skated better than some girls who are not fresh out of injury. I am happy with whatever happens. Spasiba Janny!

stop this panic.
Evgenia was pretty impressive today. You can't expect 100% shape from her in her first start after injury.
For me she was breathtaking. And she still has time until Oly to get a better shape.

Woah she’s not dying! She just double-footed an Axel - worst thing that happens is she wins the silver/bronze

No, the worst that happens is she completely loses the momentum for the Games. It's a tricky situation to be in. On one side, she has the personality to cope with that. She would work hard and use that as fuel. On the other, she was noticeably tense today so she is feeling the pressure, let's not fool ourselves. This is not about the silver here, at Euros. This is about the long game that culminates in February. And Alina has her on TES. Zhenya's advantage is the PCS. Or was.

Personally, I just like watching her so for me, I hope she skates cleanly at PC so she can be completely free of any what-ifs and I'm happy for her, and will continue to be, no matter what, but there's no way she herself would be happy with a silver. She's not the type.

that's what I thought as well, hope she copes with that, because losing a big competition because of a freaking injury and inflation is not what I want to see :sad21:

She definitely has the personality where a loss here would make her 100x stronger at the OG, she is an incredible competitor. Also, I think it's worth remembering that the OG are a completely unpredictable competition where the previous results don't count as much.

I mean, obviously I want her to win, but I don't think winning silver here would be as devastating as we are thinking. In PC, anything can happen - Alina could make mistakes, so could Zhenya, someone else could surprise us... who knows!

Edit - she's skating last on Saturday! Such high tension omg

I wonder why she has put one arm over the head. (Axel)
There was no reason to do that. :scratch2:

Will she win overall? I think yes if she is clean.
means 152-154 points in the fs. Overall 230-232 points.

And she will skate last what she likes the most.

air variation is a GOE bullet.
If she's clean in fs she can win of course, but she just got back from injury and there'll be huge pressure because of the "return of the queen" hype too.

Yes, but i thought she would go safe.:confused2:

It's not clear to me that would be safer. Your body develops habits. She's used to doing the tano axel there, deciding to go easier can paradoxically be more challenging if you are used to doing it a different way. Not a competitive figure skater, but it has happened to me in halfpipe competitions so I'm speaking from some limited experience on that.

ok, that makes sense:thumbsup:

She likes skating last, I'm more relieved :agree:
May the axels not curse her:palmf:

I was really sad to see the result at first. Too bad she made the mistake on the 2A, but she seems to be taking it very well.

A clean Medvedeva beats a clean Zagitova despite the difference in the base value in the TES. That remains the case. Today, the former was not clean while the other was, so the result is deserved. What I don't really understand is Alina's enormous PCS, but there's not much point in whining about it. It's not over yet, and I'm just so so glad to see Zhenya finally back where she belongs - on the ice.

Even if she doesn't win come saturday, she remains my favourite skater, as well as of many other FS fans. A silver or two aren't gonna take away her brilliance, and she really has had the worst of luck this season. So hang on Zhenya, we believe in you and respect you no matter what! :cheer2:
