Evgenia Medvedeva

Does anybody else have trouble watching those documentaries? I once saw a Yuzuru one and nearly cried. I've seen a Boyang Jin one along with another Chinese skater and I couldn't even finish it. They're too tough to watch because we truly see them at their most vulnerable. Very informative but very emotional too.

I'm having the same problem and didn't have it before. I mean, I did cry with more than one of Yuzuru's and one of Yuna and one of Mao, but never felt it would be too much to stop or to completely avoid. With just that part of Zhenya's I'm already very moved. I'm so shocked at seeing her in the slightest form of discomfort or vulnerability and at the same time I tell myself that I'm being too ridiculous. I'm just watching, can I imagine what she's going through, all the work and will she has put on her career and I cannot manage to watch her journey when it is not completely happy? So both feelings battle now. I think I'm manage the courage in the end. Not without my heart hurting, I'm sure.

Because she usually looks so tough that the slightest sight of her vulnerability makes one emotional, I totally understand you :sad21:.

A Japanese video about Evgenia and Zagitova : https://youtu.be/VinNK5E9wds?t=113
Without even understanding Japanese, I can assure you that it's about ballet. And they think they (Russians) make the link between ballet and figure skating, which is why they are more demonstrative.

Skating to ballet songs doesn't make one "balletic" xD.
And Japanese girls are usually better at presentation to be honest....

So do I. It‘s actually such a tough sport.

Looks interesting and recent. Many footage form Euros. Of course nostlagia hits seeing past programs. I cannot understand Russian but seems very focused on where she stands now.

^ Well, I can give you a short summary of the video just preliminary up until someone from the Russian-native users translate it, since I don't speak Russian and understand only halfway through.

They introduced Evgenia and Alina as rivals on the ice and friends on a daily basis, who faced one another for the first time at the Europeans Championships in Moscow. Then they said that in Russian figure skating there has already been a similar story – referring to the Olympics in 2002 with Yagudin and Pluschenko, who also shared the same coach. It went on with Yagudin being the favorite of the season and managing to win the OGM, and making a comparison with Evgenia, who is the favorite now as well. And that there are also other similarities – Yagudin impressed everyone from the very beginning with his emotionality and artistry. Then they speak about Zhenya’s debut on the senior circuit in 2015/2016, that she introduced a new path/mode in figure skating and that she made a statement (with her skating) – some thing like "I don’t listen to you and I am not afraid of you, moreover, I am revealing myself to you" (I didn’t understand everything but I would be happy if someone translates this part because I really liked the poetry :D) After that they show Zhenya in front of the mirrors, speaking about figure skating consisting of ½ artistry and that she has to constantly work/improve her positions and components. They mention her, combining high technical scores with emotionality and breaking all the records. Aaand at the end they predict that at the Olympics we will see a war between Zhenya and Alina on the ice.

That looks like a Game of thrones episode xD, nice way to make it extra dramatic TM

I cant stop crying after watching videos. She is a real champion for me no matter what happens. Fingers crossed and praying all the time for our young warrior. And I'm especially happy to see her sincere smile during practices in Japan because I just want her to be happy and enjoy after such a long hard time.
