There is no other good coach in sambo so I think sambo will be her club in Russia to receive scholarship and to represent at RusNats but she can actually train oversees (just like Yuzuru is officially a member of Tokyo located club)

Well, apparently this is official. I was very surprised since Zhenya and the federation denied it in March. But anyway, she has my unconditional support, and if she decided to leave, it means that she is reasoning and looking after her future.
Knowing Evgenia, it doesn't seem to me that she is escaping to little things like little Yulia did. Zhenya is a strong and outspoken woman, so I think this was already discussed with Eteri herself and the cessation of cooperation doesn't have to end in blood. Sima and Aidan left and have no problems with Eteri.
The Russian Federation can't take away her salary since the elite athletes are constitutionally protected by the State (as far as we know), she also receives a salary from the Russian OC for having medalled in the Olympics. Among all the millions she has won in shows, championships + Putin's contributions. So I think Evgenia kneaded a small fortune that could allow her to pay for things like housing, food, etc.


I feel like a mother, and I don't know if she will live alone, her grandmother will most likely accompany her, since her mother can not leave her job.

I will support my baby in this difficult moment.

Hi everyone! I’ve been a Medvedeva fan since her senior debut and today I decided to finally write a comment on her Fan Fest.
I’ll be so happy if she is actually moving to Orser, not just because she can improve her technique there and get better coreography but because of moral support: Brian is a two time olympic silver medalist, he knows better than anyone what it feels like to win silver/lose gold and I hope he’ll find a way to motivate her in difficult times.

She has not won millions, not even close. She is well paid, as some of her latest deals are quite good, but in skating, there are just a rare few people who have managed to get to millions. Of active skaters, exactly one. She's not there yet. She can pay for Canada though, so that's enough and knock on wood, considering she wants longevity in her career and will be visible, she'll continue to have opportunities to have a great nest egg.

Well, she's over half, that's for sure. If we count the value of the car, it is probably nearing that, yes.
But always remember, just one year at TCC costs 150 000 dollars, or more. So she has to cover that, for four years, and of course, leave some security for her future, just in case. I'm sure she's smart with it, but skating is a very expensive sport.

The prizes of the competitions are in Dollars, she won gold 2 seasons in a row ,and the Olympic silver also has a big prize in $$ so there will be at least one million in US dollar (I hope).


Yes she has won millions in rubles, but the ruble is devalued if it is transferred to dollar. She should invest the money in real estate or time deposits in foreign currency (Euro has more profit than the dollar), uff, I hope she considers these little things. It would be safer to buy Euros and then change the currency (my suggestion: rubles -> Euro ---> Dollar us--> Can Dollar) or I think you can also use Us dollar in some parts of Canada, but I'm not sure.


It has sponsors and I suppose that the money in Shows is not a misery either.

Zhenya and Eteri worked together for 11 years which is amazing inn he modern world of figure skating. They had great success and I am sure they love each other and this is not a bitter breakup like Yulia and Eteri.

Can you blame Zhenya? Eteri may be most focused on 15 year old Alina and the younger girls. Zhenya probably realised that too and came to this reasonable conclusion. Good luck to Zhenya. She deserves all good things.

I hope Eteri is not hurt by this but I bet she is.

This is absolutely a bitter break-up. They’ve been together for 11 years as you’ve said. It’s like her own daughter left her. I wouldn’t be surprised if the reasons are very similar to Yulia’s.

In the end what a ride! Yatagarasu and I got often attacked on this journey but i think it was worth it.

Now i wish her all the best in Canada. I think it will be hard and in the first competitions she might have problems but this girl wants olympic gold 2022!
