Evgenia Medvedeva

This is Brian with the dumplings and a Saransk ice rink in the background. Fans want to give him some Russian dumplings when he will come to Saransk for the next Russian Nationals.

Yep. she must be perfect and thats why she really should talk with a good sport psychologist(better be prepared for worse). Zhenya is like Federer, Nadal, Messi, Ronaldo and O'Sullivan. They have one thing in common-unrelenting passion(always hungry to win more). Second place is a failure. So it will unbearable to be 2nd or 3rd(we saw it during Olympics). unfortunately the pressure will be enormous. Imagine how Russians will react to her failure(second or third will be a failure to them). haters will talk about money, changing coach. it will be really nasty.
Well, Brian is definitely a coach that promotes the integration of sports psychology into an athlete's training program.

Not sure if it gets exposure outside of Canada, but Brian partnered in the development of a visualization approach. And there's an App called Peak Performance Skating...

So, do you think that with all those changes Zhenya should try a new 3-3 combination? Maybe 3Lo3Lo so she can use it also in the short program?

I don't see why not. She also said she wants to try the quad Salchow and triple Axel.

This season I think will be very experimental as she and Brian will be adjusting to each other. Brian already said he will give her some freedom and he is patient in achieving results. So yeah, I expect she will be trying out new things, and her consistency will drop for a while, but it'll be worth it in the long run!

Thanks for your reply! I don't think next season we'll see a 4S from Zhenya but maybe the following one, who knows ?

So many uncertainties :drama:

Brian says it takes a couple of years for his work start showing results. They are likely to rework her jumps from scratch. However, when the jumps come, they are likely to come stronger than ever.

That's why I believe she will (eventually) do the 4S, and other more complicated jumps/combos. Her end goal is to increase the difficulty to the maximum, and she'll be working bloody hard for it.

If Medvedeva needs two years to be 100% then she has a problem, because Russia will not be those two years paying the 300,000 dollars a year of her stay in Canada, even more with the political problem that Russian officials have had to manage in Moscow with her march to train to a rival country (almost enemy now if we talk about geopolitics).

It would not be profitable for them.

Medvedeva needs to show that she has advanced in every way with Orser from the first moment.

It sounds hard but nobody has said that this is easy.

She is right at the top now even coming off a major injury. No need to rush into things because Eteris angels wont be senior eligibe for 1 or 2 more seasons. The main thing is can Zhenya get back to her top level where she was before her foot injury? I would think so. Once that happens then they should add other elements. I am sure thats what will take place. Zhenya is going from no one great coach to another. That is amazing.

she is injured, I doubt they are going full forced, and by the time she gets cured is going to be late to start on those, she knows how to land jumps, maybe she would still be using the technique she has now at competitions, work on easy things for now, spsq, stsq, SS, choreographic..., things that wouldnt affect her results that much, but they could still work on her jumps for a little bit, slow but sure, try to keep her out of injures (As if thats possible) and by the end of the season start working full on her jumps, is not going to be easy, but nothing in life is, if she start losing, she is going to lose support too, I think her new team knows this..., right now, the priorities should be heal her, and help her not lose her spot

I am happy to see her hanging around with her mom. As any other skater, especially coming from an Olympic season, she's spent most of her days on the ice and at practice, so it's good that they spend so much more time together now. :)

Whoa, who said the RusFed will be paying $300,000 a year!? As far as I know, they haven't discussed expenses in detail yet. But I suspect she's prepared to pay a good chunk of her expenses herself. Why do you think she's been doing so many ice shows/TV shows/promotional events recently? ;)

I think op is incorrect. If I remember correctly that's how much money she has made in all her career. No way can Russian Fed be spending that much money on one person per year.

Yeah, I think so too. However, $300,000 is what she's earned in competitions alone. She also has big sponsors, and earns money from ice shows, TV shows, ads...

I think the money that Zhenya has to pay is around $150,000 per year... Someone said it two weeks ago, before the official announcement (I have no idea what were the sources of this person, though)

I believe she and her mother calculated and Zhenya can pay that prize from some sources. I don't think she did this brave step without calculating.
