Evgenia Medvedeva

What's more, there have been so many skaters from other countries that have been trained by the Russian coaches, and they have never experienced anything like that. How many skaters did Tarasova train or help? It is totally fine, as it is supposed to be.
Or even now Elizabeth Tursynbaeva has returned to Eteri, and some Russian fans (and media) really were saying "Go Elizabeth, entire Russia is rooting for you!" at SC when she and Zhenya were facing each other. I can understand personal preferences, but I can never understand turning someone into a public enemy and making everyone root on purpose for someone who is not from your own country.
I just hope that soon figure skating becomes boring for such sick people who got in here after "breaking news" and we will return to a kind and supportive community.

People forget that the only reason Lillibet went to Brian is because suddenly in 2013 they announced that no Russian coaches could work with non-Russian skaters leading up to Sochi, and she was plagued by visa issues the majority of the time she was in Canada. They also forget that she used to skate FOR Russia and now skates for Kazakhstan. But because she’s back training with Eteri she is pure according to netizens

The point is that the loudest voices in the room are not always the most educated. What Evgenia fans need to do now is that even if we are worried to be calm, trust in the process, and write her letters of support. There is no easy fix to this problem but even if she cannot read every single letter I think the volume will be enough to boost their spirits

A few things I want to say
-TCC skaters normally don't work with psychologists. However, it doesn't mean that Evgenia can't start working with one. Javi after 2 world titles (and 1 or 2 finish in every competition for 2 seasons), finished off the podium in GPF 2016 and Worlds 2017, even though he had won his 2 GP events that season. In 2017-2018 season he finished 6th in Cup of China. Brian mentioned that Javi started to really loose confidence before Olympics So they decided to work with sport psychologist and it worked. Hopefully, she will start working with one too. It's really hard for Zhenya. She finished off podium for the first time in international competition. It must really hurt. And she puts so much pressure on herself.
-about K&C. I don't know how it's with Zhenya but I am a person who can hold back tears until someone starts comforting me. Then I will cry immediately. She and her coaches don't know each other that well. They need to figure out how to behave around each other in competitions. Each skater is different. What works for Yuzu, Javi, Jason in K&C is completely different from what will work for Zhenya.
-I am surprised that some of you think that she hasn't been practising spins. Like Brian said, last week she was working on spins with Paige. And combos... She even did various combos during official practice in case she would need to use them as plan B. It's a shame that she didn't add 3lo/3t to one of her solo jumps but it's not like she was unprepared. It was all mental. She was doing so well in practice, probably even better in Toronto. And she used to be so confident in competitions. It isn't strange that she is struggling now. She did so many changes in her life. But like she said they have to work on her mentality. And I am sure that they will do that.
-I am glad that she talked about pressure and h.ate with media. Brain once mentioned that he was really afraid of talking about his insecurities publicly during his competitive career. But someone adviced him to do that and after he following that advice he felt so much better. Hopefully, it will also work for Evgenia

And some quotes from one of Zhenya's TCC mates. The one whose skating career had so many ups and lows.

The most important thing for Zhenya is not to give up  It won't be easy but I sure she can learn many things from this competition and become even stronger.

And I know she doesn't read social media anymore but I hope someone will show it to her: https://twitter.com/evgeniagallery/status/1066533216247406592

Yes! I intend to do this. Even if she does not actually read it - it is enough that she knows a fan wants to wish her well (although I hope she opens it because I'm putting a gift card inside!).

I wanted to write yesterday but my phone was half dead after the competition.

I think it’s obvious to anyone that the problem is not in her training but in her head. In the 6 min warmup she didn’t miss a jump, 2A3Lo has been solid all week and so have all the other jumps. I think the problem is the insane amount of
Pressure that has been placed on her: she kept thinking that if she doesn’t make GPF and has immediate results people will say she’s done forever and the fear completely paralized her - it was tangible from the seats, she sabotaged herself because she was too scared.

Unfortunately this is something that only she can overcome, and I hope that now that she has let herself fail she will realize that it didn’t kill her and that she can do this - the support she got yesterday was incredible, I hope people won’t give up on her: I know I won’t!

1) Orser saidGabby Daleman works with sports psychologist. After Gabby had a surgery in 2016 or 2017.
2) Back when Adam Rippon trained with Orser & had a disastrous result, Orser suggested Adam see a sports psychologist. Adam said no, I forgot the reason
3) Javier was asked before abt sports psychologist. He said he feels his coach is the person that knows him best, not the psychologist i.e. Javier doesnt want to see sports psychologist.
So, I'm not sure the timeline of your info cos I havent read any interviews abt Javier seeing sports psychologist.

True.

I think some people forget but even though Evgenia is a great figure skater with a great background it's hard to make changes in thinking and technique especially after she was drilled one way for 11 years by one coach. To unlearn what Eteri a great coach taught her and learn what Brian a great coach is teaching her cannot be easy to do in less than 1 season. I think some of us forgot that the transition from one coach to another from one technique to another from one country to another would be difficult for anyone including Zhenya.

Is there a limit to Russian girls there are three going. Serafina will be there, so that would be nice for them to catch up.

Yes, there can only be three. As of now, it's Gulyakova, Sakhanovich, and Pogorilaya. Since Pogorilaya hasn't competed at all this season, it's not impossible that she would WD. But I don't know if they can put Zhenya in since she's not on the sub list (which has Gracheva and Safonova)

Just seen the FS again... When I saw the moment of the audience still gave the big clap to Zhenya after the performance, it's just teared me up:( Just want Zhenya knows, although she is struggling in this moment, everybody still love you... It's only a tournament, you can overcome it, Zhenya:(

It's good to have such influent people such as Plushenko and Tat supporting her

I think this is important. I hope their messages reach her. These are the people who know the sport. I hope these messages inspire her.

In other news, during practice, it is obvious that Evgenia has gotten better and better technically. Once she is able to translate that in competition, whether this season or the next, in Brian's words, "she will shine again."
