Nevertheless, I think RusFed will send Samodurova, Tuktamysheva, and Zagitova to Worlds which I don't think would be a bad thing. Zhenya can end the season on a high and crack on with training and shows without added pressure. She proved she is still very much relevant in the world of Russian skating (as if we ever doubted her). But then, this is Russia so who knows what will happen!

Today should be a huge highlight for her. Well done Zhenya!

As good as Alina has been earlier this season. If it was my call in light of the last few competitions I would be sending Evgenia and Liza.

This. Who the hell knows who gets the Worlds spot at this point, but I'm so happy she did it today and gets to celebrate this victory!
 
Honestly, even if they send Liza to Worlds (which would be easily justifiable, I think we all know that) Zhenya just proved that she is still more than relevant. She won the gold medal! She was happy, despite an unfortunate fall. She had a clean SP. That‘s all I, personally, would have hoped for and more. And whatever happens, she just won their official skate off, so even if it‘s not Worlds, she will get another competition! I am so so so proud of her.
 
Well, I think Zhenya definitely deserved herUniversiade spot. If they won't send her at least there, I would be furious. Not that it would matter to RusFed, but still.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. She's great, but she not THAT great. Even Alena Kostornaia without a 3A would beg to differ.
 
I think they're going to send Zhenya. To me, I don't see Liza getting PCS like that internationally, and she isn't the most consistent with the 3A yet (even though I love her). I genuinely think that if they wanted to put Liza ahead of Zhenya they really could've done that and justified it overall as well, but the fact that they gave Zhenya the scores in the way that they did (even if it was Nats inflated) shows that it will be her, imo.

My heart would break for Liza undoubtedly, but I think Zhenya has it. Why else would they even invite her to this. And they did clearly hint that the winner of this event would be going to Worlds.
 
I won't be mad if they send Liza, I think she totally deserves it

However... I would be a bit irritated if they made Zhenya go all the way out to Russia for something she believed to be a "skate off" if it wasn't truly a skate off. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't send Zhenya, but they really didn't think this through...
