Lol, R-Yuri's penchant for emo punk fashion is hilarious. I still don't know what season they are supposed to have over there, there's some snow, sakura petals and what looks like deep dark winter in Russia. The thing that just killed me was Victor's suitcase which looked like it came from straight 1935. What kind of plane-using people use a suitcase that you need to carry? The dramatic goodbye to the coach sounded like Victor was going off to join a monastry deep in Himalayas and would never return, lol. Lots of fanservice, including the what-the-eff kind. Victor: what will you want from me if you win GPF??? R-Yuri: I want you to be my coach! J-Yuri: I want you to be my boyfriend! Er, that is, I want you and I to eat cutlets together! :laugh2: Overall, fun episode. :agree:

ok, finally managed to watch it! Well this was fun.

Spoilers below:

Most important, the katsudon was so a love confession and that's that.

Now, I kind of like the plot they've started. About Victor first - we've all joked about the impossible program but I wonder now if it was on purpose? I was kind of curious considering they had a professional choreographer do these and yet they still went down that road, and sure it's fun but now, considering the conversation between R-Yuri and J-Yuri, while they're watching Victor futz around with that new SP, maybe it was on purpose. He's better than everyone, so much so that he's hit a dead end hence the 4 quads and that program, because where do you go from there? It's possible that was a representation of Victor's state.
I loved he also calls it like it is, first with J-Yuri and the eating and then with both Yuris and the image. He may have no concept of personal space but he will tell it like it is when it comes to skating.

R-Yuri - angsty teenager is an angsty teenager. I love his animal print fixation. I am kind of glad Victor promised him just a choreo and not to coach him because the latter would have been worse if he just dumped him for J-Yuri. Still, understandable he's upset but this will be a good chance for him to grow. He should just accept Yurio now, it'll be less painful in the long run.

J-Yuri - apart from the confession, I am pleased how he's handling R-Yuri. I know some thought he'd be backing away from him but he's not. He's backing away from Victor because come on, a shot-gun wedding is a surprise, right ... er, I mean of course he has issues suddenly having to handle his idol like this but he's pretty relaxed with R-Yuri, which is cool. R-Yuri's desire to win the GPF might light an additional fire under him too. He's definitely got some kind of social anxiety but that's not surprising. He's also the recipient of the typical sports anime trope - hard work gets you to the top even if you're not a genius (ie really talented). Not something I agree with but hopefully they don't dwell on this too much.

Triplets are still everything. J-Yuri's mother is precious. The attention to detail is still phenomenal. I laughed like a lunatic at the dramatic Russian farewell and Victor the geisha. I do love this show. Overall, I am glad they are balancing the plot, a few serious moments and fun. Bring on Onsen on Ice! We'll get more skating there with the two programs.

Spoilers: I too liked the bit about self-awareness and how public perceived them and the need to surprise. Especially when Victor presented the music, and J-Yuri was all, it's about innocence and not knowing what love is, yeah, I'll take it. I was like, dude, you're 23 years guy, who's gonna believe that? The opposite with R-Yuri and his "i'll take that music, sexual love, whatever" Yeah, sexual love is gonna fly swimmingly from a 15 yo. Good that Victor was there to straighten them out - even though I totally believe R-Yuri could have more experience between the sheets. "

The big goal here is to win GPF. Now, if they really based R-Yuri on Machida, they will have him off the podium at GPF and win the Worlds. After all Machida was only a point or so away... OR they could have J-Yuri win GPF and be second at Worlds by a point.

My conclusion after two episodes: Machida's personality lives in both Yuris. Yuuri Katsuki has his life story and insecurities, but Yuri Plisetsky has Machida's diva persona and temper.

Exhibit A
Exhibit B
Exhibit C "Next year I'm going after that. I'm gonna crush you."
Exhibit D "Agh, throughout this interview, he’s been such a nuisance, soooo annoying!"

I'm not saying everyone in this show is Tatsuki Machida but... you can take his temper, combine it with Yulia Lipnitskaya's glare and you get Yuri Plisetsky.

0.33 points, I will never forget it. He was a point and something away from the Olympic bronze medal.

I'm impressed that they had J-Yuri practicing figures in the second episode! I guess that's a callback to Tatsuki too :)

Just got home from work and caught up with episode 2. Young R-Yuri...that shot of him looking up at Victor...it's clicked for me. R-Yuri is Artur: but he is Artur has he could have been if the cruelty of the RuFed had broken him in a different way. Young R-Yuri clearly idolises Victor and is less brash...but R-Yuri is...more bitter, more angry, as though there is some great hurt in his past...just like Artur. Artur broke and lost all confidence...R-Yuri, perhaps, broke and became bitterly angry and determined to win.

R-Yuri's cat has convinced me he's based a lot on Julia! The cat looks like Chopa!
