Figure Skating Anime

Sugarpova was talking about the Japanese Yuuri? He seems even less similar to Hanyu than the Russian Yuri.
haha sorry its my lack of reading comprehension
ofc I meant Japanese Yuri

So so so glad that there is (so far) no one-to-one resemblance between a character and a real skater.
I on the oposite wanted there to be someone 100% like the real skater:biggrin:

anyway off to watch!

Just call them R-Yuri and J-Yuri, easier to distinguish, or the double u for the J one.

I've always waited for an anime to finish its current season so I can get through the entire season in one go. Until now, that is. First episode subbed already, I just couldn't resist, so I gave in and watched it... twice in a row. The wait until next week is going to be unbearable.:palmf:

As a long time 腐女子 the first thought that came to mind after seeing Victor was that he is a great 総攻め.

Animation is well done imo, though skating speed seems a bit slow? At least the ads around the rink are moving slowly.

I knew I wasn't going to be able to wait so welcome to the dark side  And yeah, Victor totally, totally is. They really went to town with him, not that I am complaining.

The animation is really complex so though yes, they seem to be moving a tad slow, I don't mind because right now I don't think it's possible to get a better mix of this much detail and quality. As GF2445 said, it's insanely expensive, which is one of the reasons why the whole industry is in such a poor shape, and why the animators stick to things they know can sell. Like ruddy ecchi, for example. I have no idea how this one will do, though I see the Aria for the FS is actually charting on Japanese iTunes already but fingers crossed it goes well and they manage to justify the invested money.

The OP is History Maker by Dean Fujioka, the ED is You Only Live Once, YURI!!! on ICE feat. w.hatano. I haven't seen the full versions of either yet.

I liked that episode. Even though it was very anime (quad lutz and then quad filp and quad te +triple toe at the end of program and a skater totally out of form copying it? only possible in anime ). But I didin't catch the name of a skater on the left of Viktor in press conference :( I like the interractions between Japanese Team :) And Russian Yuri is pricleess

thx for the info Yatagarasu :agree:

trying to watch at work:laugh:
the dog is adorbs!:luv17:

Christophe Giacometti from Switzerland was second and Jean Jacques Leroy from Canada was third. Both will definitely show up again. The Canadian is voiced by Miyano Mamoru, one of the best VAs in the business, he should be a hot contender for the GPF. The Swiss is Victor's greatest rival, and he was in Juniors with J-Yuri who never once managed to beat him.

tbh I wonder if skaters have watched it and cringed lol.

Especially Japanese skaters who are probably into and aware of animés or Evgenia who we know loves animés.

The skater on the right has a plate with a name 'Otabek Altin' though? (and Viktor last name is wrongly written  ). But thanks anyway :)

Here you go, detailed too.

Oh! Sorry, my bad, I focused on the first podium! Yes, Otabek is the one modeled after Denis Tan, he's the one from Kazakhstan. The second one is Christophe Giacometti, the Swiss, I recognize the face.

I bet Zhenya will watch :rofl2:

thx for the link Yatagarasu!:thumbsup::yahoo:

I am surprised they managed to create the detail of the team jacket exactly like the one in real life.

For the skating, I don't think anyone in their right mind would do a 4T3T as the last jumping passes, so that's very anime there.
This Viktor sounds like an OP character with 4Lz, 4F, 4S and 4T AND he is 27 and already a, what, 5x consecutive GPF and world champion? (I assumed he is a 2x OGM too lol)
