Oh Lord, I just saw that tweet with Deniss and Lambiel watching YoI and the one with Lambiel and Viktor side by side with similar coats i know i'm late and now I wonder how awkward would it be for both of them to watch it? I mean, Deniss realized his dream to be coached by his favourite skater out of nowhere and Lambiel seems very similar to Viktor appearance wise somehow. Is it just me? ok. At least for me I wouldn't feel uncomfortable to watch it with him only if I had a really close relationship with him, I hope they do. lmfao

I know! And then NHK happened and there was this one moment where Lambiel was about to send him off onto the ice, that was shown in replay after Deniss finished his program and my brain just started going abort, abort, abort This moment.

But I think while maybe a bit squirmy at first they'll probably end up laughing their behinds off in the end. It is kind of funny.

The usual place to watch was so packed, that I don't think I saw more than three consecutive seconds of skating this time around Which is good as it means it's popular but darn, I have to wait now because most was almost unwatchable.

I did catch
Yurio's program was apparently awesome cause it netted him a smidgen below 298
Yuuri messed up something because he ended up I think a good 10 points lower
I think JJ won
Yuuri did qualify but he's confusing me with some of his retirement thoughts, considering his success and age.
There were a couple of really funny bits, some nice ones too.
There's an awesome scene at the end and the dog lives

I wish they kept their scorings a bit realistic. When all these top skaters start getting the scores they do in GPs, let alone in GPF or Olympics, it starts to feel like I'm watching Dragon Ball Z all over again with everyone getting constant power ups to god-like levels and beyond without much favouring of the plot.

I do hope that I'll get to see some more modest scorings and a bit more edge call scenes for realism purposes.

DB has plot related power ups! It was only because they were Saiyans, and power ups was only with hard training or recovering after near death experience (it was funny when once I think Vegeta has ordered Gohan to beat him up, just so he could recover with beans and have a power up)

Shoot, I forgot about that.

Anyways, I caught up and here are my impressions (containing spoilers so highlight to read)

The best part to me was how Yurio was actually furious at J-Yuri for screwing up his free skate - the boy wants to win with Yuri by being better, not by Yuri making mistakes! And his irritation at losing to JJ was hilarious, but given JJ's attitude, anybody would be irritated. He actually seems that rivlarly/friendship with R-Yuri now, being all tsundere, heh!

Yurio's costume, omg, right from the Blades of Glory! The flames at his boots!

I loved Yurio's spiral-to-3A, that would look awesome in real life? Has anyone ever done it? Somebody tell Yuzuru to watch it!

I wish they had shown a bit of R-Yuri/Yakov interaction before Yuri's skate, but Yakov's angry-yet-wise advice was a cool touch. Shows that he's actually and experienced coach and that Victor has something to learn in this regard. Like, yeah, having a plan B in case of flubbing a jump is a smart thing to do, and just that Victor never wanted to do that doesn't mean other can't benefit from it.

I kinda love how all of Victor's ex-rivals seem bitterly jealous of R-Yuri being Voctor's chosen one.

And J-Yuri's hugging marathon was so funny: he looked exhausted by the time he hugged everybody, like it was so out of character for him that it took all his strength!

About his retirement thoughs: it looks like he's rethinking it? I love the character development here: Yuri admitting that for the first time he actually thinks of winning Gold. Then asking Victor to coach him until he retires? Whoa, that was a huge step (hahah, I agree with Victor that it almost sounded like a marriage proposal) because 1) the deal with Victor was to coach him until the GPF and then go to Russia and 2) he was planning to retire quite soon. Asking Victor to become his coach for good sounded like asking for a lot of commitment, and not only professional. Given that romatic hug and hand-kissing.

Omg, there was hand-kissing. Like, hey, they went all out romantic and did everything to make that scene look like impromptu marriage proposal.

But anyway, we might be getting season 2, perhaps encompassing Nationals, 4CCs and Worlds? That would be awesome.

I'm getting annoyed by the subtitles: geez, leaving "katsudon" would make so much more sense, it sounding like Yuri's last name. Like, yeah, "have this, pork cutlet bowl" sounds like a nickname Yurio would use, it just rolls off the tongue. Also, seriously, isn't the girl's name supposed to be Sarah? Or is there a Czech name Sala?

Next episode is a holiday special....probably to fulfill all your fan service needs.

They only have 2 episodes to fit in the grand prix final (i think its a 12 episode season).
What i hope is that they may make the last episode longer. They sometimes do it if the show is really popular.
E.g. Last anime season, the show Orange was incredibly popular- so much so that the last episode had an extra 10-15 minutes.
Or they might only show a couple of programs. Because they need time to wrap the show up properly.
