I am so desapointed, I really felt that the Canadians should have one, they performance was one performance, we could feel all the emotions in it, I just did not see the time go by, but the team that won gold, I am not saying that they are not good, one thing is for sure, she has better lifts now, more of good taste, I was tired to see her upside down and her legs wide open in his face... they did some work to come back that good, but one thing I do not understand, is why they could be so low at the olympics and then be the best one at worlds??? That I will not understand, not because I am canadian, I do like D&D very much, but sorry, the long program of D&L what much way much better and I think it was said and if I've seen right, that in the second twizzle sequence, Patrice was not quite in sink with Marie, but even with that, they deserved much better second mark, do not remember how you call it, but 47.00 somethins or 48 something, that is way too low, they should have got at best 50 points in that section, in the presentation, and all that, they had uge technical scores and how can you get so low then in the presentation, that is a mistary for me, there is still some work to be done on the COP. But I am none the less happy for D&D and also D&S.
I think that D&L if they would not have been in second for the compulsary dance and then 3rd in the other section, they would have won. point blank... that payed in their total,, I hope they will decide to stay until Vancoucer 2010. They could be the gold champion there, but one thing I learned sine a quite a time is when it is your time and your chance to win gold you have to grab it because if not, some other teams may come into the four years and by then it would be too late...
IT was a great show tonight and a great fight but one thing that I noticed though, is the the americans, Belbin and Agosto, they were just not their usual self, something was wrong, we just did not get the same emotion that we are use to have from them, they almost got out of the podium, I think that everybody are so tired of this past season, it wsa a uge one and with the new system, eveybody is working extra hard, so good luck for next season and have fun for the summer.

I know and agree on both ESPN and Barb....but wow, I'm totally an ice dance fan now...that was a great competition! So thanks CBC for the other nights that I got to watch, even if I switched 'teams' tonight. It really makes all the difference when you can watch all three phases on tv.
I have to admit I was sort of sad that D/L didn't win, but I love D/S...I even loved them last year with the African drum music, so I felt vindicated with their win this year.

"Bach to Africa" was brilliant and so much fun, I agree. I will never understand how judges rewarded them early in the season with that program, beating N/K at NHK, but then dropped to 5th at Worlds with the same program later that season. I don't know, judges are fickle.

D/S bombed their combination spin in the OD at the Olympics. It lost them so many points that they lost their chance at the podium.
I think both D/L or D/S actually could have made it to the podium in Turino if they skated all three portions clean. B/A messed up their FD and G/G were just slow and bad.

D/L were beautiful... and the Kerrs pulled off a great show for the best FD I've seen in a long time, I loved it. It was not as crisp as it was at Euros or Torino (IMO Euros was the best out of the three: 1 Euros, 2 Olys, 3 Worlds) but they went and sold it like they always do. I really wish they'd keep it for next season so I can see it if I get myself to a competition, but, oh well. Judges don't appreciate them nor do I think they will, which is a shame. Anyway, lots of props and good wishes to John and Sinead--this has been a good season for them!

Free Dance at Worlds in Calgary
I know that the French D/S looked surprized when their marks came up. ... perhaps they actually had a deduction for their gloves being props!... I don't think that the judges at that level usually deduct... but they used the design on the gloves to be props to help convey the message and theme of their program and not the skating that conveys the message.
I loved D/V from Lith... they were passionate and amazing. I am happy that they were 2 in the freedance. I soooo wish that they had won the bronze.
I was overwhelmed and full of emotion after the first few elements of Dubreuil and Lauzon's program. It was unbelievable. I can hardly believe that they were 3rd in the OD.. I thought it should have been at least 2.. which should give them the edge to win overall. The free dance was so amazing as it weaved effortlessly!! Transitions and depth of edge, choreography, interpretation and performance were a work of art. It is hard to believe that they didn't win the title. I do know that points add up and it is a compilation of points to win. I can hardly believe that their second set of marks were not higher.

I wonder what is wrong and why she isn't as happy as her partner is. He is a great partner and he expresses more joy than her ???

I was glad to see D/S finally win. He is just an incredible dancer and they put so much into it. I was really torn though because I LOVED D/Ls program. Disappointed in Ben and Tanith, but you could tell that she wasn't her usual bubbly self. Still, they did well. I really like the Lithuanian's program too. It would be so hard to be a judge, IMO. I hated the French costumes...they did fit the music, but they were ghastly looking..although the gloves as masks were clever.

Delobel/Schoenfeldner were totally robbed yet again. They should have won atleast the bronze. The judges just like ripping them team off of medals at every event they enter.
I preferred Dubreuil/Lauzon to the Bulgarians in the free dance, but the Bulgarians won based on their other programs. So I was fine with the gold medalists.

I did not like Del & Sch's performance. I love their program, but thought they showed no emotion. I think the event was judged fairly except for Dro & Van's CD marks - they are extremely strong in CDs, and it's odd to have them almost a point behind B&A whose Ravensburger IMHO still has room for improvement.
I'm another who thought D/L's fantastic FD should have been enough to give them the win overall. However, with it being so close it's not exactly a wuzrobbed — just a difference of opinion between me and the judges, LOL. This world medal and the whole story of their disaster at the Olympics, the images of Lauzon practicing alone on Olympic ice, hoping against hope, and the obvious love for one another that just shines through in their interviews has totally elevated this team from one liked and respected to one beloved by the Canadian public. Everyone will always remember them. Their FD is a classic, right up there with the other greats.
What a courageous performance by Wing/Lowe with him suffering from food poisoning. You could see it -he looked incredibly ill. I hope he got off the ice and hooked back up to the IV he'd been attached to all day. I'm sure that wasn't the way they hoped to end their long amateur career.

CBC just continues to fuel my Patrice crush with their interviews and backstage footage. "She's my girl. I need to protect her. I need to take care of her." Rocking back and forth in each other's arms not knowing the cameras are watching, stretched out on the floor quietly stroking M-F's hair before their skate last night..... Swoon.

To me this Worlds is more memorable than that of the Olympics, to be quite honest I forgot how to spell the Russian and the Ukranians names already I think they put me to sleep during the Olympics!
Not having ESPN, I was unable to watch it so had to rely on the ISU website for the overall results, however -- they didn't update it until late so initially I was extremely excited because based on MY math, I went to bed thinking that Marie-France & Patrice had actually won the whole thing -- only to find out differently this morning.
But that's OK. Denkova & Staviysky are wonderful, too, and I'm glad they finally got their due. This is the first Worlds where I actually really like every couple in the top 4 (usually I like 1, maybe 2, and can do without the others) so I personally am thrilled with the overall result.
