Gracie Gold

I'm so damn proud of her and happy for her for sticking with it for what must seem an eternity. I'm pretty sure no one has done this before in the US? Gone from not skating for several years to coming (almost and hopefully all) the way back?

Maybe when she gets done with singles she can pull a Daisuke Takahashi and switch to dance. :hap10:
How about Gracie Gold/Jason Brown - new dance team. :)

Report from someone in the audience at Champs Camp
Thanks for this! I mentioned in the Champs Camp thread that it looks like Gabby, Starr and Gracie are the ones up for the TBD SA spot, as everyone else has 2 GP. Judging from jump notes, it looks like Starr has more triples but Gracie tried the lutz and she did 3 combos (yay, didn’t leave any jump boxes empty). I wonder how the shorts went?
I had heard that Even though Gracie Was invited to Champs Camp, she wasn’t really being considered for the TBD spot (I heard this before Potomac which I found odd as she was coming off the great Philly competition). However, it seems like at least the long went really well here, so maybe things have changed, honestly I think she always should have been in the mix.

I´m interested to know how they think. Reading the practice report, neither Gabby or Starr did outshine Gracie, so I would rather think it´s more logical to give Gracie the spot because she doesn´t have any, instead of giving Gabby or Starr a second spot. I also think Gracie has the highest scoring potensial of them, and the edge in PCS. Not to mention it´s Skate America, if they want a big audience they should pick Gracie. I mean you shouldn´t give just because of that, but I find no better arguments to give it to Gabby or Starr. IMO if you considering giving someone a second spot they should be clearly better then someone who hasn´t even got a spot.

Edit: We don´t know how the SP went though.

Btw, according to the practice report Gracie finally did the 3 jump combo we have been wanting her to do, all though the last jump in the combo was a pop. At least she tried

She also did 2 other combos.

I want to smack the people who aren't really considering her for TBD spot.

I don't tihnk anyone at USFS has any logic. Maybe "do it you cowards" was in fact an appropriate tweet.

Wow! She finally fought with a 3 jump combination. About time…… 😳

Had she done these combos at Phil, she would have the minimum for Worlds. I forgot that Gabby and Starr only have one spot. I thought the TBD SA spot would go to somebody new. I’m kinda hoping it goes to Gold, just for diversity. But, Gabby and Starr do have better competition results than Gracie. But, it is a small victory that Gracie was even invited to this Champs camp. This means the skating federation considers her at least their 8th best skater in the country.

Gracie has not had the opportunities that Gabby and Starr have had. And if their results had been that great they'd have two spots.

After seeing the reports from Champs Camp, I think Gabby was the worst. Gold had 5 triples (including her powerful 3Lz 3T jump combo), Andrews had 6. But, it was mentioned that Gold had a better program than Andrews. So, it will definitely be a battle between these two.

I have no idea how they think and where I heard it from offered no additional info. Here are my ramblings as a Gracie fan.
First, we have no idea how the short went, assuming the short went fairly well, I think I would give her the SA TBD. Gracie brings with her a lot of hype and I feel like more people both in skating and out of skating will probably tune in to watch it. Also, there is probably a decent chance that Gabby and/or Starr might get a second spot when others inevitably drop out of the GPs. This would be Gracie's only way to get one this season. Also, it seems as if none of them were standouts and if that's the case she definitely has the highest scoring potential of any of the three, so again I think I would give her the spot.
The things that I think are hurting her, 1) She is fairly inconsistent 2) She is a bit older. If the federation thinks that Gabby and/or Starr are sticking around for 4 more years and Gracie isn't (I have no idea what her plans are), they may want to give one of the other two more experience.
Gracie will definitely bring buzz to the event, and I think she has shown a lot of improvements since this time last year and truly deserves to AT LEAST be in the conversation for SA. But, I would imagine that this did solidify her getting a Challenger (again, depending on the short).

Doing the 3 combos is so great for her. She tends to leave points on the table by leaving them out. That to me showed the most fight in her, like she was going for every single point she could (at least from reading what was written). Hopefully we will find out soon about stuff either way.

It´s interesting that Starr and Gracie are going to Nebelhorn, since it was discussed that the TBD spot at SA could be between them. I wonder if the USFS will use Nebelhorn along with other Challengers to decide (if other skaters would be considered?), or if they will wait that long?

On the other hand, the deadline for Nebelhorn was on Friday when Champs camp wasn´t even done, and I also think it´s possible they decided Gracie was going to have that spot at Nebelhorn long before that, so maybe it´s just a coincidence.

i'd argue Gracie has the upper hand for the SA spot. it seems she is in a pretty good spot for this time of year, and having her lutz toe back is a huge piece of the puzzle for her. it sounds like she outskated Gabby and Starr at CC too.

i'd even think USFS wants Gracie in that spot- she is a huge name and they'll make more money.
