Gracie Gold

If she is competing I sure would like to know where.
I have no insider knowledge, however I did listen to that podcast and I really took it to mean Gracie was still competing last year since the new season hasn’t really started. I could definitely be wrong though. I hope she is still competing (if that’s what she wants) but pictures until at least May showed her in a walking boot, she hasn’t been listed on any competitions so far, and we haven’t heard a peep about anything. Last year, we had heard/seen a lot by now. I would Be surprised if she shows up at a competition to be honest.

I’m so bummed. I know she’s not skating at Philly International because they aren’t having it. 🥲🥲

I just randomly searched on Twitter (if we still can call it that) on Gracie Gold for information, and I just found a link to this article published today. It´s very interesting in itself because it´s about Road to Gold skating camps. But I think you would like particular this part from the article:

"Fankhauser said Gold, who is still competing, has plans to publish a memoir this winter. She’s excited to see how the 27-year-old weaves her personal, but universal, mental health takeaways into a narrative filled with some pretty serious athletic achievements. Fankhauser believes it will “be more than just a book about a figure skater.”

Well, this is a new interview and sounds very present to me, also because they are speaking about the memoir that is coming, the interview must be very fresh.

Of course, if she still hasn´t decided yet what to do, they might don´t want to say anything yet, but I think this is very very good sign

Also, more confirmation from the same article that she is still planning to compete:

"With the Road to Gold season winding down to allow Gold more energy for focusing directly on her training and competition schedule, the camp will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Aug. 5 and Exton, Pennsylvania at the end of November. Vail — for obvious reasons — always sticks out as a unique destination. Fankhauser cherishes the daily commute along the mountain stream from her condo to Dobson Ice Arena.

I hope this will cheer you up :)

Hi Gracie fans, please excuse me for jumping in here, but I just read an interview with Johnny Weir in the Japanese magazine Ice Jewels Vol. 18 in which they spoke about his skating academy, and he also mentioned Gracie.
The interview was taken in June.
Here is the part, it is automatically translated from Japanese with deepL, so I may have lost some nuances.

Q: Who else is on the coaching team?
JW: My right-hand person is Megan Stewart, who I've trained with since I was a kid, and I trust her. One other person is not yet decided, but I plan to hire a male coach. The three of us will work together to give the students the reassurance that they will always be supported. Gracie (Gold) was originally planned too, but she wanted to continue competing so (she?) prioritised that. I need a coach who will be there full-time.

Two recent articles with different people saying she is going to continue her skating career can´t be wrong. This is such good news :love2:

Oh thank you dear skating Gods. I love you so much today. I will burn some sage in your honor.

Oh no....no excuse needed. I'm crying tears of joy. Please do stop by with wonderful news any time you have it.

I had checked to see if she were coaching RTG in August - she is not - it will be Mirai and Geoffrey I think. SO that did give me pause. I hadn't checked to see who was coaching RTG in Exton, but I'd think that would be close enough to stop by there if needed.

More info on her new book and how to pre-order. Oh dear, that forlorn look on her face makes me want to give her a big hug. I still keep asking myself if she should have been third and on the podium at Worlds 2016. :slink:

Gracie we need you to compete, hope it is true. She is the only one who can safe american figure skating. A true beacon of hope. And together with her truth be told such a powerful woman

The title is interesting. I feel that there will be many memoirs coming that publishers encourage to have the same type of title as I'm Glad My Mom Died. The thing I most want for Gracie's book is for it to sell very well and NOT be full of ice-princess answers. Dang, I hope she can heal from what she went through.
