Hanyu's skating edges

I'd rather skip that! :laugh2:

Ahh, come now prof, where is your sense of adventure? Let's venture into the deep, undiscovered waters! We really need a wiggle eyebrows smiley.

Dang, now that you said it, I want it  please a loose one with curly hair. He could stylishly lose it during the SP steps!

Right? Right? Wouldn't that be glorious? He's get extra PCS too. How could the judges resist!

I might need to light some candles for my village. No doubt they'll come to pillage it after they have their way with me. :dbana:

Only if you have a tonne of Winnie the Poohs we might want for our idol's worship. Otherwise your village is of no interest to us the Hanyu Crusaders.

My sense of adventure is forever taken care of by Yuzuru. He provides me with enough heart attacks!

When I think of deep edges, I would usually look in the step sequences and transitional edge work before the jump landings or two-foot highlight moves such as spread eagles, although those can also certainly show deep edges.

Aside from the depth of the lean, I would also consider speed and acceleration, flow (maintaining an even glide rather than continuously losing and regaining speed), and the security of the edge (no wobbles).

Agility (ability to change directions quickly and efficiently) is also valuable, but not directly related to the depth of the edges and sometimes works against it. Maintaining or gaining speed through multiple turns and steps is certainly an indication of good edge skills.

It seems we tend to see more quick steps and changes from smaller skaters and longer-held edges from larger skaters: think Orser vs. Boitano.

For the Shin Amano fans, here he is competing ~20 years ago:

Yes, and it would make me want a Yuzu/Jason Team Gala skate even more  imagine all the fab!

Lol, somebody should photoshop Elladj Balde's hair on Yuzu.

I'm for Daddy Muras!

One more thing Hanyu doesn't have : a flesh colored SP "Prince" costume with bling. Something like Gracie's LP dress.
He really need to work on this, seriously, he need it for more +GOE's :angry1:

We need a thread about it, ASAP :dev2:

I know we are spoiled with HD videos these days, but I'm always amazed that a video from 1994 looks like it's been a hundred years ago. I don't remember that time as being so...unfocused! *_*

And wow, Shin Amano. This is curious!

I think it didn't look so unfocused on TV back in the day. I believe low resolution tv material transferred to digital looks worse on HD screens/monitors than it did on analog televisions.

How come you didn't know that Japan has HD since the beginning of times also known as The Birth Of Hanyu Our Lord and Saviour?

It isn't a fan fest question- it was directed to actual SKATERS for theor opinion. Fan fest means gushing only right?

Nope, not right. For example we spent a vast amount of time worrying about him doing quads at the end of a program that we are losing lots of hair as a result.
