Ideas for Virtue & Moir

Especially the Strauss is still too much in the love's young dream mode that they have been pursuing, at least for my taste.

Don't worry about the redundant romance. The operetta has traditionally been performed to celebrate the New Year in Vienna. It is a spectacular gala show with a crisp and comic twist of lust and flirtation; hide and seek. It should be a blast.

Gordeeva & Grinkov used the Overture in their 1989 LP... I remember it being light and fresh... nothing soggy. Marina knows this one well.

how about something that stretches tessa--i felt that in their fd this year, scott did most of the expression. he really let go (to me), and she didn't let go as much. i want them both to let go next season.

All in all, I like their romantic style, it suits them so well, but will they really have to change their style drastically to gain more respect from the judges? I personally didn't really enjoy their Malaguena program from three years back. I think that was their attempt at being more athletic than artistic, but it just left me bored...

Do they need more respect from the judges? I think they need to try something different because 1) it's always good to try different styles and enhance one's versatility, especially when the team is as young as they are, 2) more importantly, if they want to go with a romantic program during the Olympic season, they should do something different next year so the judges/audience won't get burned out on that style.

I agree with *allthat*. They should experiment with something new and different for this coming season and then have their signature style for the Olympic year. Gotta have their best programs for the olympic year especially. Go V/M:clap:

Okay, I just remembered a sountrack I have that might suit them. It's from the movie "Ladies in Lavender", and a prominent violinist, Joshua Bell, plays on it. That might actually work for them, music wise, although the storyline might not fit. Also, speaking of Joshua Bell, he also plays on the soundtrack for "The Red Violin". I've never actually seen the movie, so I don't know much about the storyline, but the music could possibly work. I need to listen to it more before I am sure about it working for Tessa and Scott, however.

Joshua Bell and V/M!
Why haven't I thought of that? Joshua is known for his delicate + light + subtle vibrato that reminds me of Jascha Heifetz (besides his cute look). His violin playing does resemble V/T in many ways. SWEET
Sound track of the "Red Violin" is cool. It made the composer, John Corigliano, a house hold name after the film was released. Very effective music indeed.

p.s.
I can visualize Johnny Weir skating to this music, too.

I would love for them to do some swing music. I remember the first time I saw them, it was in 2004 right after they won the Canadian jr national title, they did tears on my pillow and tutti frutti and they were adorable.

Does Frank Sinatra have any swing music?

Hey guys!
Listen to this and let me know if this would work.

1> "Vide Cor Meum" by Patrick Cassidy.

I think, that The Mission (1986) by Ennio Morricone is overused soundtrack - S/S did LP on it in 2007, F/S did FD in 2006, new canadian team did in this year
Guys, when i saw video from Gala traning, i think, that Scott can be really good in rock-n-roll, maybe it this musick from WCh gala

Is the Finnstep only going to be required at 4CC's?

I remember reading a few years ago that Scott was looking forward to the Finnstep (when it was first announced that it would be a compulsory dance).

I fear that Igor will return to Latin, because he's stayed away for it for two years -- which is a looong time in Shpilband years.

I don't think V&M have trouble with quick-stepping CDs/programs. It's just that they hated the Yankee Polka. My guess is that they don't like the YP because it's one of the few CDs where there's no real relationship between the partners -- it's just a perky/happy dance designed for the audience. This also may be why D&W did so well with this dance (not to be a slam against D&W, but since they're still in the process of figuring out how to relate to each other, it was probably a relief to get to dance to something where they didn't have to. Besides, they seem to be able to do perky well.). ;) As npa mentioned, V&M did have a foxtrot/quickstep OD a few years back, and they did very well with it.

I'm confused

Internationally, what are next years CD and OD? Will these apply to all GP events, Europeans and Worlds (minus the CD)?

What is the CD for 4C's - It is not the same as the other international CD's that year? What about the OD for 4C’s?

What are the CD and OD for Canadians and US nationals?

My understanding was that most nationals kept to the same schedule as is posted for GP, Europeans and Worlds in terms of CD and OD's. (with exception to the CD at worlds, which is usually announced a few weeks earlier). Whereas 4C’s had a different CD.

Can someone clarify this?

The CDs for next year for seniors are the Finnstep, Viennese Waltz & the Paso Doble. However, the Finnstep has already been named the CD for Euros & 4C's, and therefore will not be used for Worlds.

This is not the way things normally are run. It is an accommodation to introducing a new CD.

The CD's for juniors are the Argentine Tango, the Killian & the Austrian Waltz.

The OD for both groups are rhythms of the 1920's, 30's & 40's. And that will hold for all events for the entire season.

For 2009 OD must be "Rhythms of the Roaring 20’s (Charleston, Blues, Cakewalk, Lambeth Walk, etc)" - not from 30, 40's

I want them to try Carmen, Tosca, Swan Lake, or The Swan from Carnival of Animals. For the Olympics, I think they should use Bolero.
and don't forget Otonal and some Maksim Mvirca classical pop...

Back to business...
I suddenly have Echo and the Bunnymen's "Lips like Sugar" on my Mind...

Actually, people who attended Worlds said that at one of the conferences, a decision was made to expand to the 30s and 40s.

The mission was an amazing soudtrack but I have heard everybody and their sister skate to it in the past 4 years and have gotten VERY tired of it. Last summer I counted 3 girls on the same session who all had "the mission" for their program.

OK. I read information from ice-dance.com - maybe they will changed it (rithms)
