Since 4CC is in Seoul, it would make sense I guess. There would probably be a lot of Japanese skaters in the audience, so it would almost be like skating at home.

Looks like the 4CC field may actually be deeper than the European field this year, at least for the women.

Congratulation to Mao, Miki, Yukari, and Suguri! I was hoping Fumie would make the worlds team, but oh well. Miki is indeed a comeback queen! World championship is going to be just as interesting as last year now! Joannie and Yukari really need 3-3 to be competitive with the top 3 ladies. As for Kimmie..I hope she will be in a better shape by the nationals.

WOOWWW !!!!! MIKI !!!!!! GORGEOUS !!!!!!

Wonderful, very energetic, elegant, dynamic performance.

I just watched it now, I will watch it again and again.

GO MIKI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I think it's very unusual for JSF to send their top skaters to 4CC.
But hey, good for me that I could probably see them skate alive!!
I can already feel the tension that Yuna, Mao and Miki will throw themselves into and poor girls!! It's like pre-Worlds and I hope they all can survive this forced march!!

back to Japanese Nationals,
Congrats to Mao!!
Congrats to Miki!!
Congrats to Yukari!!

I must say that I'm really impressed with Miki. She corrected her technique in such a short space of time and she looked determined than ever!! Yes, Yuna and Mao, watch out!! I have a feeling that, while all the spotlights are on these two sweet seventeens, Miki will grab the Worlds and defend her title. Hope I'm wrong, you know whom I'm rooting for!!

Well, well Miki made some noise, good for her. She was Carmen and she stayed that way throughout her whole program. Miki definitely brought her A game to Nationals. She was just wonderful.

great performance from miki, with a quad she may be unbeatable.

I am also so happy for yukari she seem to be so relieved after making the world championship team and that tears...

I guess I was the only one uninspired by Miki's skate. Nice jumps other than that everything else is mediocre in my opinion. I would have had Mao win the long, also.

I still prefer Mao's skating/ performance, her basic skating skills are fantastic. Miki did great too, powerful performance with gorgeous jumps, she and Yuna are one of the best ladies jumpers today. But her spins look a little weak.

Congrats to all skaters who did well in this competition. I enjoyed all skaters' performances good or bad, and especially Takahito's SP (not to be confused with Takahiko), Fumie's SP, Miki's LP and Yukina's SP and LP. I wish Takahito and Fumie had kept the momentum they had in their SP also in their LP.

I totally understand that figureskating fans and especially Korean fans will be happy that participating countries will send top skaters to 4CC and therefore they can enjoy top skaters' performances on TV or in their home country and I'm happy for them. But at the same time, I feel very sorry for the skaters who placed 5th and 6th overall in the Japanese Nationals, who were expected to be selected for 4CC. I feel especially for Akiko, who, despite her placement at Nationals, now has to count only on invitation to NHK Trophy (the home GP event) for any GP assignment next season since she's a senior skater who has fallen out of the 'system' once already due to her suffering from anorexia at the ages when most skaters have their peaks during their competitive skating careers.

She overcame the disorder and has been working her butt off (and skated well in smaller competitions incl her wins at Universiad and Golden Spin) in order to grab this chance to earn some points internationally, but it has just fallen out of her hand because of these fickle people at JSF changing their mind without any prior announcement and deciding to let Mao, Miki, and Suguri "do their work" for them. Surely they saw less priority in taking her future competitive career seriously than doing a favor for the other federations (and/or ISU.)

To me, now that the Nobeyama summer camp is a thing of the past, and that JSF is trying to sell only the very few top skaters, it's become so clear that the federation in the current regime has no sense of giving chance to and helping/nurturing other promising skaters unless they are still in the junior/novice circuits.

Sure, of course Akiko or Nana could have outscored Fumie and placed 4th if they had skated better at Nationals, but they still deserve getting sent to 4CC and build up their experience and confidence. Actually if the fedration decided not to send the skaters who placed 4th, 5th and 6th, I don't understand why not then sending the top 3 instead of 1st, 2nd, and 4th. There has to be some reason for this. (Possibly Nanri and Nakano are busy with their school work and the fed tried to take that into account?)

Besides the jumps I thought Miki also excelled in showmanship. She did a great Carmen!

That said, if Mao hits her triple Axel I don't see anyone beating that program.

Mki was amazing, she truly deserved the LP! That was a world championship winning performance in any rule book! Truly spectacular!

Mao Asada is stunning! I love her, an almost perfect performance!

I love Akiko Suzuki, such an amazing artiste, i hope she is given exposures due for her stunning talent and also for Yukina. These 2 girls, Suzuki and Ota are gems of Japanese figure skating. Exquisite artiste

Any videos of Akiko here

Watching Fumie was frustrating! After her stellar SP, she totally let her nerves get the best of her. She was doubling jumps that she could do in her sleep, and yet managed to land her nemesis jump the 3salchow! I hope she does well at 4CC though, and hopefully, she will push on for one more year after this.

Congrats to Miki, Mao, and Yukari.

But I am surprised that Miki marked higher than Mao on her PCS.
