Japanese Nationals

Thanks!

For ladies, I will cheer for Mao, Mai, Miki, Yukina, Fumie, Yukari, and Nana. For men, I will cheer for Nobunari:agree:, daisuke, Takahiko.

For ladies, I will also look forward to seeing Akiko suzuki, Aki sawada, Rumi suizu, and Yuki NISHINO. For men, I will look forward to seeing Yasuharu NANRI and Takahito MURA.

I would be happy if some kind-hearted people in Japan could post many of them on YOUTUBE  because the field is simply so deep.

My prediction:
1. Mao
2. Miki
3. Yukari
4. Akiko Suzuki
5. Fumie
6. Nana
7. Mai
8-11 Yuki Nishino, Rumi Suizu, Yukina Ota, Aki Sawada

1. Daisuke
2. Oda
3. Takahiko kozuka
4-. not sure

Hope Mao lands her 3-3 in SP and 3A and two 3-3's in LP, Yukina Ota has recovered her 3's, and Mai does well in both pro's.
My heartfelt wish to Nobu:thumbsup:

But the Pairs field is so weak, it doesn't exist in the Nats!
I remember someone on this forum suggesting Fumie to form a pair with some guy to be in the Worlds, but that also goes with many other ladies, all of them very talented.
"Two-ladies" pairs aren't allowed, are they?

:chorus:Sorcerer, you made me thought of Blades of glory. I'd like to see that myself also.
I wish Miki and Oda to do well in national.

Yeah, that's true although there would be a lot of potential given the numerous single skaters (both males and females) who are very good at all the basic elements.

I suspect that it may be partly because of the relatively small # of rinks that makes the ice time so limited and expensive. Given that pairs practices take a lot of space, it may be much more difficult for pairs than for single skaters to ensure enough practice time.

I was expecting that Miki would be one of the favorites for Worlds. She has the full set of triples. Her 3lz-3l is very big. Her lip seems to have been fixed, too. She also had clean 4S in practices. Further, she made great records last season. She barely made mistakes throughout the last season except for one fall in TEB, whereas both Yuna and Mao have always made some mistakes throughout the two consecutive seasons. So I feel that her TES could score higher than Mao or Yuna depending on the way things come out. Although the GP series didn't work out well for her, I hope that she can restart her season at the Nationals and come back strong again at Worlds :agree:

I also hope Ota does her best. What happened to her? She was so strong technically when she won World Juniors!

Practice starts...

The unofficial practice took place in Namihaya dome on this Xmas day.
Kyodo News distributed several hours ago says that Miki's crisp moves showed off, such as succeeding again her 4S, while Mao who just returned to her home country may have been jet-lagged and couldn't make her 3A, Nakano landed her 3As in a row appealing her good condition.

Well, in the 2 days of practices before the NHK, Miki landed 5 quad salchows out of 7 tries in total, so her success of 4S practice this time doesn't assure anything, I suppose.
But if her skating looked crisp, at least that's a relief for now!!

Web TV to watch the Japanese Nats ?

Is there a web TV service to watch the Japanese Nationals online ?
Actually I can't even access the japanese figure skating federation website ( http://www.skatingjapan.jp/ ) so I don't even know the timetable of the competition ...

I've just finished watching the broadcast of Mens' SP.

The results ? Here you go:

Daisuke was in my eyes flawless!...Maybe a little too soft as impression, could have been a bit more brutal, but that's asking too much.
No surprise. Daisuke is an exceptional skater and competitor. But no one is near him! Surely the Japanese Fed can come up with some close competition.

what is Oda doing?

Joe

Practice:

Miki looks refreshed. Mao popped her loop in her SP practice again... When I think of statistics, I just do not understand why.... It is said thta she lands it 10 out 10 in her practices.
