Jason Brown

4CC! And then we can have a great GS meetup!

Yes, decisions! I've concluded that I probably can't afford (either time or money) to do both.

Vancouver is much closer to me than Anaheim, but it will probably end up taking about the same amount of time to get to the two places due to the fact I'd be driving to Vancouver vs. flying to California.

Also SoCal in February sounds a WHOLE lot more appealing than Vancouver in December (no snow, but dreary grey weather....)

We'll see; it would be nice to see you again, karne.

Anyway, Jason gets a mention in Skating Magazine (http://content.digitalpub.blue-soho...SKATING/html/index.html?page=36&origin=reader) through some features on Rob Peal (page 12), who is an ice dancing coach, and his kids (and students) Elliana, 10 and Ethan, 14, who won the Intermediate title earlier this year in Ice Dance. In the article it mentions that Peal coached Jason way back in the day in Illinois that Kori still sends students his way (and Rob visits Monument to work on skating skills with her students).

We've talked a lot about Jason's improved skating skills here, and it sounds like Rob likely contributed to that.

There's also a super fun essay from Elliana on page 32. She was one of the winners of the RISE Youth Essay Contest. She mentions Jason at the end.

I also look up to Jason Brown. I started skating at the same rink as Jason when I was 1 year old (! seriously?!) and we were in the same ice shows when I was little. My dad also coached Jason and we still skate with him when we visit Colorado or he comes home. He is really nice and he tries to help me and my brother on the ice. I try to throw all my bears the ice for Jason because he gives them to sick kids.

Too cute.

By the way... Here's the Peals' FD that won them the Intermediate title: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUY_Dk1nFwg

Yes! Go where it is warmer! (says the Aussie planning a trip to Detroit in January. Hmm.)

GS party! I'll bring the Tim Tams!

Since we have no real news (thank heavens for SOI)...

Did everyone see the comment on Jason’s latest “thanks Phoenix” post, “we asked our four year old who his favorite skater was, he said the one with the cap and his name on the back of the shirt who did the worm”.

Smart kid:agree:

Toddler approved! Hoping my own toddler likes it too. if nothing else she’ll know how to say his name. “Jason, where are you?!” We’re going to see him next week lol.

Given how good Jason apparently is with kids, a photo with Toddler P would be epic: but I agree not worth $100:biggrin:

Speaking of which, making more posts from total boredom of lack of skating, now that Vincent is on the tour, it appears he is being paired with Jason in the M&G.

I have heard from folks who have met him that Vincent is a shy and reserved young man (that is *not* a criticism, I certainly considered myself an introvert at his age) and so I think this is a good pairing, since Jason has enough energy for two people;)

ETA: plus that is some 5 o'clock shadow on Jason. As someone whose spousal unit has had a full beard for 45 years, I approve!

Jason's had a bit of fuzz happening for a while now. Took him a while, but he got there in the end

It was the last post-Oly SoI that Josh started showing off some scraggly beard, too...

Great recovery Jason!! I had a similar fall and was sore for a month... and when it happened I thought: this is nothing for skaters!!

Trust Jason to "spin" that fall: I totally meant to do that:laugh:

Of all the many clips and tweets from SOI, this one minute clip struck me most (it appears from the Twitter profile pic that the poster may be a cameraman as well as a reporter), it so much captures the feel of Jason skating for the audience:

I went to the show in San Jose yesterday (my first live skating experience!) and my cheeks still hurt from smiling so much. Posted my full thoughts on the Stars On Ice 2018 Tour thread if anyone's interested.

Moving on to Jason specific thoughts:

He is THE most entertaining person on the ice, the crowd was soooo loud and engaged during both his programs, but especially during Can't Stop the Feeling. I went to the show with friends who knew next to nothing about skating but they all left as Jason fans and 2/3 said that Can't Stop the Feeling was their favorite program of the night! (The other 1 said that Feel It Still was their favorite.) His wave and bow after that program is the cutest thing ever, you can tell that he loves the audience and the audience loves him right back! He didn't do jumps in either of his programs. In the place in Room Where It Happens when he usually does his second jump, he did a single revolution jump that took off kind of like a Salchow and he landed it with his left foot (this was right in front of the section I was at!) His skating is so full and so fun that none of my friends noticed that he didn't jump, the only reason I did was because I was looking for it. The audience went crazy for Adam and Nathan's split jumps, I can only imagine how they would have reacted to Jason's 4 in a row

Ashley posted some Insta stories with Jason yesterday about redemption at the SAP Center because they haven't had the best experiences in the arena (Nationals ) but I hope they were able to create new memories in the arena and are able to have some good memories of the audience showering them with love associated with the arena :luv17:

Thank you for the report, Shirleyc89:clap:

So glad to hear tha Jason was his usual show-stopping self, and of course that he made new fans :agree: of course also so glad you liked it!

These things tend to happen in threes.

At this point, I won't be shocked if Jason ends up being coached by Plushenko or Eteri, LOL

(In all seriousness, I'm still guessing it will be someone LA based....)

Well with Tammy leaving, LA based includes Team Raf, Derrick Delmore, Frank, Anthony Liu, and??????

Well given how this season has been going....

Jason to Stéphane! Not that he can do thing one for his jumps, but Deniss and Jason together. I couldn’t

Beats the heck out of Priscilla Hill:laugh:

But... Priscilla would be not that far from you. ;)

Okay. Medvedeva to Orser.
Knierims to Aljona.
Jason to ?????

Plushenko! I actually think they would be a delightful fit.

For those that don't follow TSL, Dave is pushing for Priscilla Hill and I wonder if he knows something more than just guessing. I do want to add he is being nice about it and wording in very much a he thinks they would both be happy and that she could help with tech.

I actually wonder if he has thought about Bradie's coach as she is in the Chicago area. I respect what she has done with Bradie... other than packaging, but Jason has Rohene for that anyway. I do wonder if that would be a good fit.

Priscilla Hill was Johnny Weir’s coach way back in the day and basically did help him technically — I believe he started late, so she did a lot in a short time. On the other hand, she was Ashley Wagner’s coach as well and we all know she had/has UR/flutz issues. So mixed bag.
