Other coaches ran the summer camp last year. Brian was elsewhere. Tracy was there. There were a lot of stroking classes. I think the China trip is later in June. Jason is still in Cali with Ro, so if he is going, he'll probably leave from SF. His parents seem to be in Cali with him also. But from the look of that video, Jason's got at least another week of work with Rohene ahead of him. Then he may take off. Then back to TCC to work hard on his jump technique. Everything else is there! It's really just the jumps.

Just a guess. They might be done. But Jason has always said it takes him a long time to get the choreo, so assuming one week wouldn't do it.

It's pretty exciting! Can we play guess which GPS Jason gets? Will it be SCI and NHK along with Yuzu and Zhenya? Or will Nathan actually get first pick and get NHK, which lines up better with his school schedule. Will politics intervene? So many possibilities!

I wouldn't presume that Zhenya will get NHK, that would be only if Alina didn't want it

NHK is the week after Russia, so not likely Alina or her coach will want that. China is a possible for Jason. Vince may get that one and Boyang should be skating China as well.

I mean. Jason did his loyal fans a disservice placing 9th at Worlds.
Why, you may ask? Because he’s not a seeded skater. He could be selected by anyone, anywhere. So we’re forced to speculate that maybe Evgenia or Yuzu will go here or there and Jason will tag along. 
Hopefully next year he’ll remedy that. As to this year, I’d selfishly like to see him at SA. And I hope for his sake he’s not at NHK.

May I ask if a trip to Sin City is in the cards for SA?
I'd love to see Jason there too, (not that I have any desire to go to Vegas for SA
) but just because he is still loved. And it's first. But yes, not being in the 4 to 6 makes it hard to predict. Theoretically Brian and Tracy could politick for a tag along with one of their other skaters, but they're not going to get Yuzu, Zhenya and Jun in the same two GPs, so they'll just have to travel.Too bad

Team USA only has 3 men guaranteed 2 spots, Nathan, Vince and Jason. Nathan will get SA. But USFS may choose to do host picks to get Tomoki and Alexei (or Camden) a second GP spot. Jason gets a spot no matter what. So my guess (and it's just a guess) is that Jason won't do SA.
For what it’s worth Vincent ended up being guaranteed two assignments after two people in the top 12 retired (Max Aaron and Misha Ge) and still ended up with SKAM.
But maybe USFS didn’t realize that when it made host picks.
And past precedent shows the second highest ranked non-seeded US man at worlds has generally gone elsewhere, and last year the second highest man, ie Max, retired.
We haven’t had two men in the top six for a while so it’s hard to say what they will do.

I might go if he’s there. It’s a pretty close flight for me, but like you, Im not much interested in Vegas. Probably not otherwise. I’ll let you know!

I'm pretty sure the ISU said they weren't moving people up that way before the GP assignments last year (treating it more like the SB list where people don't move up), so he may not have been. I don't remember the source for that though.

Going by the Announcement for the 2018/19 GP series, Mrs. P would be correct.
(In the last sentence, the ISU obviously made a dumb "typo" referring to 2017 Worlds, instead of 2018 Worlds.)
Skaters who have placed 7 – 12 in Men and Ladies and Pairs/Couples who have placed 7 – 10 in Pair Skating and Ice Dance at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2018 will be guaranteed to be selected for two ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events, provided that these Skaters/Couples fulfil the requirements of the minimum Grand Prix score as per paragraph 2.3. below. If there are any retirements from placements 7 – 12 (respectively 7 – 10 for Pair Skating/Ice Dance), the vacant places will be completed with the next ranked Skaters/Couples of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 (placed 13 and below for Singles – placed 11 and below for Pair Skating and Ice Dance) will be moved up to fill their position as Placement 7 – 12 Skaters (respectively 7 – 10 Pairs/Couples).

It would be great and will be interesting to see. I think Karen Preston is known as a jump technician, but I’m not sure that extends to quads. I guess the question is partly how much he was working with Lee and whether there’s a “hole” in his team. And also whether there’s any truth to reports that Ghislain thinks no one over 18 will get quads.
If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll see him working with Jason in China.

If I were USFS, I wouldn’t be thinking so much about ranking and Nats in handing out SA spots, but more about which skaters I want to push/launch, and who might benefit from a leg up to make the GPF.
Tomoki: did really well in his last two comps this season, and could be a star in the making. Crowds seem to like him and his new programs could really help him make a splash. But he doesn’t have huge buzz or rep yet (like, say, Shoma did in his first senior season), and he strikes me as being a long shot (though it wouldn’t be impossible) to medal at most GPs. Since he isn’t an obvious threat to home town favorites, I’d guess he might well get invited to two events that are not SA. If USFS is really excited about him, they might want to launch his senior career by giving him a chance to possibly medal at SA.
Camden: not in quite such a strong position as Tomoki because he struggled at his late season events. His new programs sound good, and he seems to be really committed to improving. I would guess most Feds wouldn’t view him as a medal threat, which could mean he’ll be offered two spots without SA. But it’s also possible he'd be overlooked for a second spot. So he might need that SA spot.
Jason? What can I say. Audiences love him, but he’s had a couple of up and down years. He’s regularly in the mix for bronze or silver medals at most events, but without a quad is unlikely to contend for gold. He won’t have any problem getting invites, but TCC’s needs may complicate the selection process. Based on his history, he’s borderline /a long shot for the GPF, and USFS already has Nathan and Vincent. So unless USFS has gotten word that he’s made huge strides with the quad, they may not feel it’s necessary to push him towards the GPF
I don’t have any answers, but for me the question is - what is USFS’s priority? Negotiate for Nathan’s second assignment or for one of Vincent’s? Launch Tomoki? Give Camden a leg up? Put Jason is a better position for the GPF? Ensure good assignments for some of the ladies / pairs / dance teams?
Not sure, but I’d guess after Nathan, everything else pales.
ETA for anyone who cares, it looks like Jason is still in his Edeas but is back in his Jackson Ultima blades. He looks very concentrated, and I’m betting he’s listening to Ghislain!
