Jason Brown

This is not just a great interview with Jason. It might be the best interview Phil has ever done. Jason was very open and mature. And Phil avoided the usual traps that he falls into. I was so glad to see this!

Agreed. These were good questions and excellent answers. For me, it was a touching read.

Question: Do you realize if you had landed that quad toe at Four Continents, you might have beaten Yuzu in the free skate?

Jason: Do you realize it? It’s part of the message, that I’m learning to find my self worth. I have to believe in myself

Great interview. An interesting place to end it.

:sad21:

I thought I could not love him any more....

I was only able to glance at the interview yesterday, but now that I've read it carefully - wow! So much content. Again, it makes me said that he didn't have an opportunity to prove himself in Worlds, but he did have 5 competitions, and I'm thankful for that.

Hold on to this thought, Jason. Keep believing!
"We’re in a competition, and I do believe I can be on that podium if I skate the way I can."

El - you made me laugh with your "spring chicken" and aunties comment. I have clothes older than Jason!

And I found out this week my long-awaited cruise on the Rhine River has been cancelled so I'm drowning myself in Youtubes. Life could be worse. I hope some day Jason can look back at the progress he's made - just since Riverdance - and realize what he's personally brought to the sport. I think his skating has reminded fans and other skaters, not to mention judges, what figure skating could and should be. He's stayed the course and continually strived to be better, made some really good choices, and he's content with himself. Speaking as a parent, and as FF aunty, what more could you want for someone you care about?

p.s. I love the question he asks Hersh at the end of the interview.

And for anyone who was interested in USFS Gala Madness, it's down to Yuzu and Jason. I'm not surprised! Jason's been promoting it, so happy to see him in the final bracket. Voting is Monday. For me, these are the two greatest male skaters in the world, so of course they are going head to head.

The latest interview was indeed, fantastic and dug deep into my soul. I am not always a big fan of Mr. Hersh but this time he really delivered :agree: I had never realised he would have beaten Hanyu had he not missed the 4T. :eekn: I guess I was too distracted and excited about his PCS surpassing that of the "GOAT"!!
The bit where he mentioned his confidence being shaken and his self-worth in doubt, I really wished I could rush over to him and give him a tight hug (not that this was the first time I had that urge )
I was particularly impressed that the team solidly believed in Jason's capacity to amass GOEs and use it as his own weapon, and encouraged him in it. And of course I am over the moon to see that their strategy is paying off now. Of course a successful quad or two wouldn't hurt, but I am so grateful that Orser and Wilson stressed on his own strength above everything else and turn it into his advantage.
It was such a missed opportunity for everyone but for the athletes above all who had worked so hard for it all season. But now he has the entire off season to take what he has gained to yet another level. Next season will be so exciting!!!

To no one's surprise in this Fan Fest, Jason won the PSA Award for best performance at US Nats, but for the SP:hap85:

So picky Fan Fest type question: PSA is the American coaches association, right? Does that mean Tracy is "certified" by USFS? (I think we always thought Karen was).

Yay, Jason:hap10:

Don't they have to be US certified to coach an American skater? Seems to me like Brian ran into some kind of a problem with that sometime in the past. But being an "old" Auntie I don't remember exactly. Something that MGStyle said kind of resonated with me - that Brian Orser, for all his successes and accolades, still believes that beautiful skating has a place in the sport and encourages it and capitalizes on it. Says something. HELLO ETERI - are you listening?

Awesome news! Congrats to Jason and Rohene! I've made no secret of how much I love this SP, so VERY happy for them, and I will be very happy to watch that Best Performance again, right now!

So the Cricket brothers will be dueling in the finals of the Gala Madness! Haha. I'm not holding my breath on this one, but good luck, Jason.

Yeah, somehow I don't think the Jasonites have the numbers to overcome the Hanyufans here.

That paragraph about letting others dictate what he was capable of quite literally broke my heart. I can't bear the thought of our Jason sad.

In a world of very little good news, this is fantastic! I am so proud of him and his team. Ro and Jason are approaching legendary status. Thanks for posting this. I need this tonight!

I was just re-watching Jason's SP from 4CC again, and I just noticed, that in the background of the very last spin, you can see Tracy and Brian. As Jason hits his end pose, Brian is making the same gesture with his hand, before he starts applauding wildly!

Brian is very invested in Jason now. I saw that change at IDF last year. Jason is now the 2nd highest ranked skater internationally in Brian and Tracy's group. It's a perfect matchup of coaches and skater. We all hoped for this after 2016 and if finally happened 2 years later. He's gotten so much from them, but they've gotten an equal amount from him. Jason is on a good trajectory for 2022. And so is TCC!

also, from evgenia's instagram stories, TCC is closed for quarantine. For how long, who knows? Whilst I can understand the reasoning, this must be a really difficult time for all the skaters, as being fit and in competitive shape is literally their careers... I feel like we're in for some turbulent times skating wise...

Many skaters do take a short break or go on vacation at the end of the season so I don't think it's unheard of to have a few weeks of less training. I'm sure their teams are making plans to stay in shape and work off ice during closures.

Perhaps TCC needs to go to Korea with Junhwan. The virus seems to be under control there...are their rinks open?

;)

Things are crazy now, but let's show our love for Jason by voting for him on Gala Madness. Yuzu's fans are out in huge numbers! The vote started 15 minutes ago.

Well according to IG and Twitter, Jason is with his folks in Chicago.

I guess if you need social distance and inability to practice, you might as well be with your family:thumbsup:.

Do I foresee Dancing in Highland Park videos?
