Jason Brown

I remember this so well. It was SO funny. Eventually, Shoma listened and left the ice. Of course, Jason had to keep talking to his fans. Finally Kori yelled "Jason Brown, you are grounded!!!!" Everybody was dying laughing! I think they were waiting for the guys to come to the press conference, and they couldn't get them off the ice. Such fun memories! I remember Jason had a beautiful skate at that competition.
Jason had a great competition. But it was the comp where his quad was downgraded and called under-rotated when it wasn't. I think it scarred him and made it hard for him to get his mind around what a quad was. I've watched that replay over and over and there was the tinyiest little curve. Even Johnny and Tara called it fully rotated. But he came in 2nd and Kori did tell him he was grounded and threatened to break his medal. Over the announcement system. It was totally hilarious. Shoma started it, but he did get off first, then Adam reluctantly got off and Jason didn't want to say no to anyone. They finally got him off, waving with everyone cheering. They had the press conference and then they had to clear the ice for gala practice. Wasn't that entire competition awesome! There were so many great skaters! I had so much fun! I screamed so loud when Jason landed that quad (and he did land it, no matter what they said) I can hear it on the replay. I got my first Jason hug at the competition too. It was amazing! We had the best time ever!

Interesting how the conversation has changed from: Jason needs a quad, he just needs it, to: Jason doesn't even need a quad. Funny.
I'd love to see him get a nice quad, but one good quad just gains him 4-5 points over a triple. He can score about 276 (96 + 180) without a single quad. However, I'm sure he doesn't want to be known as the man who never landed a fully rotated quad in competition. He has done it in practice.

Actually he can score about 280 without a quad. He scored 274 with 94+180, but the 180 was with a double and when he scored that he wasn't as sharp as he was at his previous competition which was Nationals. And it's very doable having into account the fact that he's very consistent with triples when healthy. For me, I don't mind him not ever attempting a quad, it would make him less injury prone, but I can understand him wanting to go for it. I used to compete locally in a certain martial art and when you're used to the pain and you embrace the pain and effort because you're so determined to reach that next goal, you don't just stop and settle. And I was doing it as a hobby, I can't imagine being an actual elite athlete, the kind of focus and ambition it takes.

KMT (Kirsten Moore-Towers) just posted on twitter that she completed a bucket list skating item today... an edge class with Tracy and Jason 💕

When the *sob* inevitable day comes that Jason retires, just IMAGINE the demand for such workshops should he be so inclined to go that way...

Oh, that is a wonderful, thank you. We get more skating content from Kirsten about Jason than from Jason. :)

(well today's Daily Jason at least showed him on the rink.)

And since David Wilson is peeking through the window, apparently the finishing touches are for SL. It will be interesting to see what they’ve done. 😊 Although I’m not holding out hope that it’s a return to V1. 😂

If Jason goes into modelling post his skating career, he should submit today's travel post as a headshot. It is a beautiful picture of him! He has really grown into his looks in the last couple of years.

Also, the mask is cute, and I love that the Avenger you can see most is Captain America. Captain America for our Captain America! I'm sure Jason would be one of Steve Rogers' favourite skaters.

Jason talks about his injury: it was an avulsion fracture of his left metatarsal. So now we have the story straight from the source:

I’ve just started a new job and the office looks straight onto a Ronald McDonald house - all I can think about is Jason every time I see it!!

Damn, that does sound like a serious injury from Jason, definitely more than a tweak. Glad he’s addressed it so there’s no more rumours.

I’d love to see him in the team event too 🥺

I think the main thing I noticed is that he seems confident in his jumps and especially jump landings. Everything looked quite seamless. Probably some of this is because we didn’t see a lot of triples or any quads - but he doesn’t seem to be hesitating and there doesn’t seem any wonkiness when he lands. Fingers crossed 🤞!
