Johnny Weir Robbed Big Time

There is this rumor flying around that Tarasova's been approached by Lysacek's team and that she hasn't said 'no'. I've seen it on several blogs.

tbc, I guess.
I don't think why Tatiana Tarasova should/would waste her time with such a completly hopeless case like someone like Lysacek ... sorry!!!

1. B/c she sees smth in him.
2. B/c she's been praising his work ethics all season long.
3. B/c she respects Frank Carroll and his work.
4. B/c with her, he actually may start looking pretty on ice.
5. B/c she'll be paid for it.
6. B/c ppl will finally learn how to spell her name.

Thanks, Dee... I've been debating back and forth whether to say anything at all... it's tough because I adore Evan's skating. But at the end of the day you want the rules followed and everything to work out fairly...
I know you like Evan a lot and that's why I appreciated what you had to say.

Dee

I think kwanfan1212 tried to die when I started booing the other night. She was all "Evan WON"

There was just no way after Johnny held it together (until that final spin when he started crying) that I thought they would give it to Evan.

As for TT coaching him - why? He's doing very well under Frank's coaching, and I would hate to see how she'd change his style...

I'm still trying to figure who the hell ... "B/c" is/are ... and "about" ... apart from that ... "Abbey Road" will always remain to be be one of my most fave Beatles Albums ...

[Disclaimer: this post is not meant to give any weight to the rumor about Lysacek approaching TT for coaching; it's only theoretical musings and nothing else.] When TT took on Yagudin, everybody was aghast. Alexei was known as a technician with no artistic abilities. After Kulik, it was surprising to say the least. However, she managed to make him into... well, into a skater we know and love today! Don't really see what's so "hopeless" about Evan by comparison.

I know several of Johnny's fans maybe screaming treason right now, but he doesn't own Tarasova, she's free to work with whom she wants. If she can improve Evan's skating then so be it. He's not going anywhere so I'd like to be able to enjoy his skating, if she can make that work go right ahead.

ETA: although I'd like to add that from what I gathered she hasn't committed to anything yet...

Especially after the announcement was made that Evan won the free skate. I booed right along with most of the rest of the crowd.

I've been waiting on your report. You strike me as fair and reasonable ... so I had been wondering what your thoughts were.

Glad to hear the booing died away and things were polite. I was a too busy sniffling over my Jameson's to note much that happened after the explanation of the scores.

BTW ... I'm so old, I remember when no civilized person chewed gum in public. Johnny was chomping in several of the off-ice video clips that NBC showed, and it drove me nuts.

At least he wasn't chewing gum during the medal ceremony and on the podium like Evan was...

I am aware of that. Tonichelle mentioned it in her post, which is why I mentioned my own distaste for gum-chewing in my response to her comments.

It's a pet peeve, in Evan's case it made him look like he was sneering, which -considering everything going on that night - I didn't think would work in his best interest which is why I put it in.

It's an annoyance of mine, and had *I* been the one out there taking the photos I'd have made him spit it out. gum and pictures don't go!

Oh, that's interesting. Tarasova = the ultimate solution. If Lysacek could interpret and express exactly what Tarasova wants, which I highly doubt, why not.

Alexei Yagudin was totally different from Lysacek when he went to Tarasova, even though he was known as a technician. Alexei had excellent basic skating skills and rare talent which enabled him to do what Tarasova intended to. Lysacek does not have that kind of basic edge and skill, even if Lysacek wants to, he cannot do. Not to mention that the artistic abilities is a born talent that some people would never really get it.

I truly hope you're right, but what happend 2005 in Moscow, when Lysacek won a fluky Bronze medal?

Evan´s bronze at 2005 Worlds a fluke? Hardly, because he won it in 2006 also. Now for 2008 Worlds I hope that both Lysacek and Weir will be healthy and uninjured.

About team Lysacek approaching Tarasova, I very much hope that is just a rumour (huh, remembering the difficulties Weir had with his Olympic season Tarasova choreography for CoP)... If it would still be 6.0 system, I would feel differently about the matter Lysacek/Tarasova, perhaps. Or if it is a question of an exhibition number by Tarasova for Lysacek, that I would like.

Yes, most skating fans loved Yagudin´s programmes by Tarasova and saw him as a great artistic skater, but unfortunately I was among those who were not fooled, LOL. I always thought that if Plushenko had had the benefit of Tarasova choreography, that would have been something really awesome.

To get back to the topic... I don´t think that Weir was robbed at all, he just blew it himself by not skating the whole content of his programme. After Lysacek´s freeskate the doors were open for Weir to win, but he did a liiiittle bit too little. Anyway, as a fan of both Lysacek and Weir it did not matter to me which was the winner, as they both won a slot for Worlds.

Ooouups, my online translator mentioned "flukey" as another term for "undeserved", and that's what I actually meant. But then, just like in certain other cases, you wouldn't agree anyway! ;) :)

Evan actually only won the Bronze in 2006 because of a horrible CoP rule. An entire Triple jump of Oda's was discredited simply because he did it in combination and had already done 3 combos.

And he was flat-out lucky to win that Bronze in 2005. The competition was incredibly weak and I remember thinking he should have placed 4th anyway. Unfortunately, that performance isn't on Youtube so I can't review it.

.

Didn't the same thing happened to Plushenko as to the repeat combo and Sandhu ending up winning because of that error by Plushenko. I don't remember what year but I believe it was the GPF.

IMO, they both skate at Worlds the way they did at Nats, and neither will end up on the podium, unless others (Verner, Lambiel, Dai, Chan, Joubert -- just to name a few) make a lot of mistakes. Neither guy has enough cushion to leave a single hundredth of a point on the table.

Chan? Not yet. Joubert? He is injured and sick is he not? I think JW and EL have a shot at being on the podium. I do not think PC or BJ have any better shot than the Americans.

I think whichever of the two American men skate better WITH A QUAD will end up on the podium.
