Just some Bebe ramblings...

All Bebe has to do is come prepared, get in the groove, and skate her programs. If she gets 15th, she gets 15th.   If we had anyone better (and old enough) we would have sent them. We didn't, so now it's Bebe's chance to rock and roll.

I'm very very puzzled by this sort of mentality of Bebe fans. It's almost like they do NOT care about how she will skate as long as she's sent. To compete at worlds is NOT a vacation gift passed out by U.S. federation. The skaters have major responsibility to skate the best and to gain more spots.

Obviously, Bebe is not in shape as demonstrated by her disastrous performance at 4cc, she should be replaced by Hacker IMMEDIATELY(even I'm not a big fan of Hacker's skating, too sugary...).

Bebe has to understand this. Her attitude at K&C seems to tell me she, just like her fervent fans, simply did not care, and she was just having fun. U.S. federation can NOT afford her to just have fun.

But she earned her ticket. I'm not Bebe's fan, but she beat both Katrina and Kimmie at Nationals, and that's what matters. And honestly, with a score below 50 in sp, would Katrina make it to free skate?

Ashley got a SP score of 47.29 (because the caller unfairly called her 3F underrotated, costing her 5 points) and Hacker got 49.86.

At the GP, Wagner got SP scores of just over 50 in both her events.

But---if you look at BeBe's record in SPs, she is even worse than Ashley and Hacker. She got lucky at 4CC.

Cup of China: 46.44
Cup of Russia: 46.30

At Nationals, BeBe popped the lutz to a single and didn't do the combination, but was given a generous score of 53+ by the US judges. If she had done that at 4CC, her score would be similar to Hacker's---also under 50.

If one of the US ladies doesn't make it to the FS, it is far more likely to be BeBe than Ashley.

I have to agree with some people here. Bebe is a big liability. I am not even expecting her to crack the hight teens in placement at worlds. She may even place in the 20's.

But I don't think the assumption that she just doesn't care how she skates is correct. Some people are very good at hiding their emotions. So, she may be the type of person who laughs to keep from crying.

Did you ever look at the face of her coach as BeBe sits chatting happily away in the KnC after a dismal performance? Ken Congemi is grim and unsmiling, and has not a word to say to her.

I am sure Ken is just frustrated. Can you imagine how much time he has spent with Bebe and she still can't get it right ever.

Youd be foolish to think that she doesnt care. Of course everyone cares how they do. If they didnt care they wouldnt be competing.

But why cry over your scores, rather than being positive in the kiss & cry. I think it would be better to get upset once you are out of view and the cameras are out of your face, that way you arent bringing the crowd down and making them uncomfortable.:ohwell:

I am one who doesnt have unrealistic expectations for her. Why hope that she is going to make a top 5 finish when its not realisticly going to happen for her? I want her to enjoy the experience because I dont think she will get to go to Worlds again with Caroline, Mirai & Rachael being of age next year.

Also Bebe beat Katrina so there is no reason why youd even think of switching her out for Katrina. The switch at Nationals was Kimmie & Katrina, not Bebe. Sure I want three spots for the US like everyone else, who am I kidding, Ive been wanting 4 or 5 spots for the US & Japanese ladies for awhile:laugh: BUT trying to make a point for switching out someone ISNT going to happen, PLUS the person you are trying to switch her for probably wouldnt do much better, so why agrue for it?

I am sure Ken must be frustrated, because he as well as the rest of us know she has it in her. She can land the jumps, its just the inconsistancy is not being addressed/fixed. Im sure Alissa's & Rohene's coaches are feeling the same. Skaters with such potential and unable to bring it to the competitions consistantly. That would be frustrating not only for the coaches but for the skaters as well.:disapp: If only there was a pill to take to fix it.

The reason some of us are fans of Bebe besides her skating style, we've watched her grow up and compete since she was 12 some even before that, so there is a fondess to see her succeed, she's always had the potential for greatness and we wish her nothing but the best. At least thats how my boyfriend and I see it. We adore her and want her to do well and have a great experience.

So in the end I say....:clap: Go Bebe!!!:rock::clap:

Actually, no, I have not. To me, Ken always seems like he is in her corner.

Here's hoping she gets lucky at Worlds, too!

As to the nay-sayers -- of course she wants to skate well, is happy when she achieves a high score and a good placement, and is disappointed when she comes up short of her hopes and expectations.. What she doesn't need are fair weather "fans" who cheer her today and boo her tomorrow, depending on whether she lands her triple Lutz or not.

About her so-called "responsibility" to Truth, Justice, and the American desire to get three spots at Worlds next year -- Bebe's only responsibility is to do her best.

There seems to be alot of this lately for numerous skaters unfortunately:p

My thoughts exactly:agree:

I'm not a BeBe fan, and I too saw her first performance at Nationals when she was 12. I've seen her fall short too many times to be in her corner. It's not BeBe herself that I don't like, it's her inability to deliver on the talent she obviously has. I feel the same way about Alissa Czisny, who has everything it takes to be a champion except the jumps and the competitive nerves.

Both BeBe and Alissa are very lovely and lovable people, but I just can't be a fan of their skating. When Worlds spots are on the line, I want the BEST skaters to be out there, fighting for them. BeBe just isn't a fighter. Maybe she just doesn't want it that much.

What was a revelation to me was Katrina Hacker at 4CC. At Nationals, she was a deer in the headlights. Competing at her first Senior Nationals must have spooked her very badly, because at 4CC, she recaptured her beautiful performances at Regionals and Sectionals this fall, only she skated even better.

Now faced with the choice of a skater who can't deliver when the big performance is needed and one who can, I'll always prefer the one who can. It's as simple as that. Katrina isn't going to get the chance to repeat her 4CC performance at Worlds, and IMO, that is really sad. Unfortunately, BeBe probably IS going to repeat her 4CC performance at Worlds, and that is much, much sadder.

Excellent Post #49, Pickasuub. I'm sure Bebe does clean practice routines but at moment of truth, she falters. I also feel sorry for her. It's hard to think of what she will do at Worlds as compared to what she is capable of.

I also feel sorry for Ken. It would mean a lot to him to show the skating world that he produced a winner.

Let her skate the Worlds and she must consider about skating afterwards.

I'm not worried about Ashley. Just hoping that Hacker is practicing all toe off jump to be familiar with the pic!

Just some Bebe ramblings

I'm guessing Bebe has just as much chance of a "once in a lifetime" performance as anyone else. Look at the last few ladies world champs!

It's always up for grabs. Whomever can work their magic at the competition shall win.

If Bebe wants to skate???????If she can't make top 10 like Katrina (sp) can she needs to stay home. I love Bebe but the usfsa is making a big mistake.....So Bebe prove me wrong

I like Bebe as a skater but what has struck me is her pinning her mistakes in her programs on "rushing" her jumps. She's used this explanation for faltering so many times, I have to wonder why you would continue to rush the jumps if you already had acknowledged that as a problem.

It's really frustrating for me to watch Bebe and Alissa because you know they are going to make mistakes, its just a matter of when. They both had the goods to be champions but that time has passed, I think.

I do not know what Bebe was once capable of, and I understand from watching old youtube videos that she was a tiny 12-year old trying a 3 lutz. But after training at her rink I have to make it clear that with all due respect to Bebe she is not ticking these jumps off easy as pie in practice. I have never seen her do a clean LP run-through and none of her 3/3 attempts were successful. Actually her freeskate at nationals was the best I have seen her skate all year. What I am surprised at is the jump that she usually nails in practice the 3 loop, her keeps popping and the jumps she has problems with in pratcice the lutz and the flip she seems to be landing okay in competition.

I know that Bebe can skate a clean program, and pray she does so at worlds. But i just wanted to clear up the feeling that she is doing clean skates everytime but when it counts.

What makes you think Katrina can make top 10 at Worlds? I suppose she could if a lot of the world's best skaters withdraw or have meltdowns. Making top 10 in the world is not an easy task. Hacker certainly doesn't have the technical difficulty nor the experience to make top 10 at this point.

Hacker did place 5th at 4C compared to Ashely and Bebe but I still think that Bebe would do better at worlds with more experience.
