Kim's representatives end Orser's coaching relationship threads merged

I'm guessing it has do with Yuna's choreographer being David Wilson who works out of the Cricket Club (he does have other clients there I'm assuming and he does coach others there). Its also a situation that developed within the last 2 days so I'm guessing she's just a bit stunned. Its like going through the motions without thinking straight and her management hasn't exactly shown good counsel.

Saying in the media she shouldn't remain at the club probably was something Yuna didn't know about until Brian's interview was released. Which would mean that she'd have to rent out a rink in the last day. Given the google (edit: lol google article. I have no idea, sorry I'll have to try to find the link again. Think it might be the AP article) article that Yuna was still skating with David Wilson working on the program yesterday without crying, you're asking her to find another rink ALREADY is a bit unreasonable. Given that she is unable to skate today, I'd say she probably will consider that soon.

Are you sure he's still talking? Or are different media outlets simply "picking up the story" and quoting Brian's statements from another article/interview?

Think this one is new. It refers to her crying today. Another article mentioned she was skating just fine yesterday.

I am really disappointed to Yuna. What she's done to Brian Orser is very rude and bad behavior.
Stop to tell a lie,B??? How could she say so...
I'm not a fan of her anymore! Grow up Yuna.

For all we know she may not have been the one that posted that

You know I'm starting to find myself more and more disappointed with Brian Orser.

When I get into arguments with a close friend, I keep my mouth shut and take a few hits and see if my friend stops hitting. The true sign of love is patience. I understand that it may be difficult to remain patient with the situation at the Cricket Club with the other skaters, but this does not to be aired over the media this way at this point. The big news is past.

The fact that Brian Orser is STILL talking to the media. I am referring to the new article.

.

Thanks for the link. After reading it I don't think it is good or bad. But the idea that Orser has no right to talk or give interviews has no basis in American or Canadian culture or law. He is not only entitled to speak out but it appears he needed to get this off his chest.

It is interesting that some of the awkward comments from ATS seem to confirm reasons Orser gave for feeling disrespected. Ms Choi stated that relations have been bad since May. Orser was not told until August that his services would no longer be required. I think it was very disrespectful to leave Brian hanging all summer after the four years of service he gave to Yuna.

After Yuna's mom rather than Yuna herself gave him this news nobody from the Kim camp spoke out. It has been mentioned several times here that ATS should have made a statement or held a press conference.

But they kept quiet and what was Orser supposed to think? That maybe the situation would change? One thing for sure is that Orser knew the news would eventually get out and after waiting three weeks, with the start of the season rapidly approaching, and with a tension spreading through the Cricket Club what was he supposed to do?

Does he owe Yuna undying loyalty when she obvioulsy does not feel the same way about him? And at what point must Orser begin looking out for his skaters? It is no longer his job to train and protect Yuna. That responsibilty belongs to ATS. For Yuna's sake I hope ATS gets their act together quickly.

And I agree with Orser as well that this has been a learning experience. Yuna claims she is no longer a child and the one who made the decision and yet she sent her mother to fire Brian. That feels like the actions of a child and not the one in charge.

I am a fan of Yuna's skating and have followed Brian Orser's career since the 1984 Olympics.
I really wish them both the best. If Yuna's image has taken a hit I don't think it is anything that can't be repaired in time and by the continued skating and good deeds Yuna has done for the less fortunate.

A last chance to end this in a dignified manner would be for Yuna and her agents to leave the Cricket Club in peace. To stay on is disruptive and feels selfish.

I hope ATS will realize this and find another place for Yuna to train. Brian really has no choice but Yuna does and can certainly afford it.

How does Hersh have such channels. :(

#1. Wilson NOT getting involved. WISE MAN. (I doubt its easier for him to deal with the emotional fallout in anyway).
#2. Orser is in defensive mode. Game over. Turtle inside the shell, its likely he's not coming out until the whole thing is finished.

David can you without taking sides just tell both sides to stop talking. I can imagine the pain rampaging through the whole club and Orser's group of skaters who I AM SURE are ALSO close with Yuna.

IMG not involved. Lol. Conspiracy theories abound. (I obviously don't believe this. IMG has too much at stake to play games over its main athletes and coaches NO MATTER how big Yuna, Orser, and Mao may be to their fans. IMO. Regardless of whether they're a professional group or not, its just financially risky without much reward).

I don't want to defend her for this specific act, but we don't know the whole story behind this and if Brian is indeed lying or there was some micommunication. We don't know at this point.

Well according to the article you just posted. Yuna and mom have wisely done just that.

I notice you mentioning Orser not talking to the media has no place in American/Canadian culture or law. You're speaking like a him vs. them mentality. They're not in court.

I have the right to tell everything secret or public I know about say an ex-friend to the whole world. There's no legal binding contract that I can't talk about what I want to talk about. I have a right to get it off my chest if I feel the need. But culture (American at least, no idea about Canada but I'm fairly certain its the same) thinks highly of a silence is golden, listen much and speak less, keep things close to the chest cultural value.

I am not attacking Orser's integrity, but I am noting that his talking to the media sounds more like who's right and wrong instead of hey its my friend. So for him to say that he cares and loves Yuna and that he's STILL talking to the media (I don't think his first interviews were unnecessary, rather that he should have stopped at those and just said a simple "I stick with my original statement no further comment" would have served equally well). His mouth is running. No question about it.

I don't know the truth about anything BUT that Orser is talking when he doesn't have to be. And he's saying he loves her. Yeah its unfair but thats what they mean by love. You don't come out of it fair and square. So I'm calling him out on that. He is not taking the high road.

Seems you've already come to a judgement about the whole situation but please don't get defensive about my post. Its right on the money regarding what I see. And frankly, without knowing either of them personally and EVEN knowing them both, I would only be able to make a decision with what I have. And that is I believe Orser more than Yuna's camp (edit: because he's been articulate and because he's older vs Yuna who seems more emotional right now to present an objective position and because she is indeed younger) but Orser is sabotaging his own position with this particularly discrepancy and... (I'm going to stop saying the D word since its inflammatory. My apologies. I'll stick with oh well.) ;)

Exactly. If he's saying he knows Yu-na is crying and she's clearly upset and hurting. And he really thinks this is about her mother, couldn't the man stop now? I mean if its true you care about this girl, can't you stop? The news out, you've said your piece and rebutted hers. But you can stop. Honestly the moment you stop giving interviews is the moment the whole news dies down and everyone including the other students you claim to care about will be able to move on.

And as for her leaving the Cricket Club. She does need to but shouldn't she be allowed to finish her programs, at least the long program first. Maybe I guess she should just leave but if she paid for the programs etc.

If its possible it might be better for her to finish the program with David Wilson elsewhere. I feel more for Orser's other students and mutual acquaintances. These kind of things rip a big wound into the whole family. Its not just about Yuna and Brian. Wilson, Rippon, Gao... all those pictures and good times. Its a fragile age: teens. I wish this never happened. Oh rewind 6 months to the hugs and tears of joy and putting medals around each others necks.

I think this culture you described is an idealistic idea rather than a realistic one. We don't live in a silent era anymore - now it is speak more listen less. I mean even look at our social media now - Facebook, Youtube, Twitter. Everything happens at lighting speed - people say whatever is on their minds. People may even say something that they regret (such as Yuna's Twitter comment, which is probably why it was deleted so fast).

Bottom line to me, is that Yuna's management has not done a good job in handling this situation and representing her. The story they have put out doesn't make sense either. I don't think Brian said anything inappropriate - he was just telling his side of the story, which he is entitled to. If Yuna wants to tell her side, then give an interview and give details. It doesn't clear anything up to call Brian a liar and say that you don't want to discuss specifics. Either way, as long as she switches her management and environment, I think everyone will be able to move on!
