Kim's representatives end Orser's coaching relationship threads merged

But it's not a show, it's a competition. http://www.skatingjapan.jp/

Maybe chloepoco should have said for you, Japan Open(competiton) and Carnival on Ice (show)

I think pretty many of people who have been interested in figureskating and followed it for the past few years know that every year ( and these two years in autumn), IMG holds Japan Open and Carnival on Ice on the same day, competition in the afternoon, and show in the evening.

But I don't think whether it is a competion or a show is a matter here. The fact Yuna and ATS for some reason holds Kim shows on the same dates of the events held by IMG is the topic here.

well...as we found out a couple of days ago, Yuna is certainly capable of being candid she was quite "to the point" in her open letter denouncing the rumors...I think some of that candor may arise from the language barrier, though. Often times, it's harder to use more flowery wording in a language you're not fluent in, which limits you to more basic words and phrases.
Well, I'm judging in the most cases by her other words, like interviews, etc. She appears to be really straight. One journalist even said to her: "You are too honest.".
Btw, what I liked about this letter, is that she showed that she is aware of that her position is relatively weak comparing to Brian. She knew it, and still decided to protect her mother.
NO mortal person deserves to be "worshipped"! That's something reserved only for deities in your respective religion...

JMHO.
Hm... I guess this is where my limited English shows. Isn't "worship" also defined as "a feeling of profound love and admiration"? What I mean is that Michelle deserves profound love and admiration. Even is she is not that good personally, but by everything I know, she must be good personally too. Same applies to others... I guess Mao Asada deserves this too, for example, for her personality and a big list of achievements. Brian and Yuna, of course, too.

I knew about Japan Open, but not about the Carnival.
Well, anyway, the ATS show is not a competitor for it, as it's being held in different country. If there was a show of IMG going in USA, then it would look suspicious, but this?

I looked for a translation of "worshipping" in the dictionary... Yeah. You can change "being worshipped" for "being loved and admired" in my previous post.

I don't think Yuna felt betrayed by Brian a few months ago.
This "uncomfotable feeling" started when Ms Park decided she wanted to start up her own agency. When Brian did not jump at the chance to sign with her and did not deliver Adam and Christina the relationship changed.

After the Olympics things seemed to be fine. Then Brian was off to Korea and made and honorary citizen of Seoul.

Then Brian re-signed with his agency and suddenly things were not the same.
I think this is the best theory we have heard - "skating mom goes mad with power and fires daughter's coach for insuffiencient loyalty.

The test message had a puzzling line - "I know exactly what's going on now"

Yuna seems to admit as Brian said that before when he talked to her she did not understand what was happening. Interpret this anyway you like, but Yuna's own message confirms what Brian had said.

I did not understand before but "I know exactly what's going on now."

I never doubted that Brian was truthful but have big doubts about everything we have heard from ATS and the entire Kim camp.

Nothing else has happened that we know of that could have caused such a bitter, brutal. callous parting of the ways.

Good luck with ATS. I suspect it will only last as long as Yuna can bring in the big bucks. Other skaters, seeing what has happened to Min Jung may not be so quick to sign up.

I surely hope Adam and Christina keep far away from ATS.

^ It's all speculation, of course, but I agree that this theory hangs together better than any other that has been proposed. Certainly better that a vague, "you hurt my feelings," "no, you hurt mine."

Brian said back then that he had no idea about the creation of ATS. If they wanted him specifically, they would tell him in the first place, wouldn't they?

The test message had a puzzling aspect. "I understand now."

She wrote "I know exactly what's going on now", not "I understand now". Stop telling lies, ok?

I never doubted that Brian was truthful but have big doubts about everything we have heard from ATS and the entire Kim camp.
Because you are one-sided, as you always are.

Brian told in an interview, I don't remember exactly when, probably in May, to Korean press, that he didn't know about the creation of ATS and he knew it from internet or somewhere. They didn't inform him, therefore they didn't try to get him away from IMG.
This "theory" can be seen as interesting only if you don't know any facts. What bothers me, is that janetfan clearly knows them, but he insists with "the crazy skating mom".

I think it was colleen who first mentioned this here. I thought about it and as you say, it fits better than anything else.
BTW, the Mao business is speculation. It is very much a fact that Yuna's mom started an agency and that Brian did not sign with her. Then for the first time Brian is not part of Yuna's big summer show.

"I know exactly what's going on now" to me means that after Orser went public Yuna's mom needed support. So she more or less told Yuna what was going on and probably what to say. Yuna says she is an adult and free to speak her mind. So where is the press conference already with Yuna speaking her mind and clearing the air?

I think you must hate your mother. What an obsession with accusing Yuna's mother, seriously.
Yuna doesn't have to organise any press conference. She doesn't want to make public shows like Brian did.

Still talking about it? get over it. Twist the words and facts all you want, in the end, they parted ways just like so many others. Same ending.

MrBerkley, you are right, Michelle's break with Frank wasn't as nasty as this one is. Michelle actually went in person and talked to Frank. While he truly didn't understand why it happened, they both handled it in a dignified and decent manner.

This whole episode lacks diginity and decency. It was done in a very backhanded manner and caused hard feelings on all sides. I am with Brian Orser on this and I was with Frank before. Skaters need to realize that it takes a group effort to get them to the top. Without a first rate coach, they are toast. Once they get to the top, they would still be wise to keep the coach that got them there. That is why I hold Evan in such high regard. He knows how he got that OGM and that Frank was instrumental. He made sure everyone knew that. A very decent thing to do.

I don't think Yuna ever said Orser was not CENTRAL to her OGM. She made sure everyone knew and praised him repeatedly in the press. Then she tried to break off with him (I guess) for some reason and then it became the monster it became. I don't think that's fair to say Yuna doesn't realize it takes a group effort to get to the top. The skater doesn't owe the coach for life (although the appreciation should remain there, and yes, I agree the twitter and cyworld posts are ugly).

Agree 100%. (Argh nobody knows which of R.D.'s posts I agree with. I'm talking about the Michelle Kwan not being an angel post. And I am a MK fan both of her person and her skating).

People are human. But I think she's very controlled and very media friendly.

Well, I'm sure it's not just Brian Orser or Yuna or her mom who 'caused' this.

What caused Yuna and her mom to behave as if they believed that they were the center of the universe and that they rightly deserved preferential treatment in all matters and could never do any wrong?

There must surely have been a situation/environment where they could believe that they were indeed deemed to be the center of the universe and would get preferential treatment at all times no matter what.

Maintaining deification is hard work, and requires cooperation in great numbers. There must have been great many accomplices involved in maintaining that fiction. All those that were involved in it 'caused' it, I believe.

Um, are you implying that they acted arrogantly? We have no evidence that they are arrogant and only examples of how humble they are (whether for media consumption or real). I agree with Ilfs. Inexperience rather than arrogance. And its unfair to blame a whole fan base too lol.
