Notes: Music: Faces in Stone, In the Mirror / wearing dark fushia with chiffon skirt diag silver seq design / flycam to donut to start is nicely done / 2z2t2l / 1a / 2f 1/2l 2s / 2l / there really hasn't been any chor to this point of the program/ 2s fell / music slows now for layback with foot to head basic layback pos is weak / 2t / 2a fell think rotated / spirals start with coe in catchfoot / stt steps move well as music picks up -- it's the fastest she's skated in the program / combo spin to end / into 1st overall of course /

Notes: Music: Witches of Eastwick turqoise with black skirt / a bit of chor to start off / 3t2t2t / 3z low landing turnout - did a beauty in warmup / bailed on sal - didn't get off the ice / back sit with variations ch sit / spread eagle / 3f fell - again - did a pretty good one in warmup / spirals are ok / 2a / 2z / combo spin is nice - good pos & variation of speed / 3t / strt steps moved well but I couldn't see her feet she was too close to my side of the rink / fly forward sit has great fly & tuck & nice low spin / into 1st overall /

POL Laura Czarnotta Start No: 3
Notes: Music: Spirit & Mulan Soundtracks black sparkly bodice with light blue shading to white skirt / 2a / 3t turnout 1/2l turn 2l / sal didn't get off the ice / 2a 1l 2l / didn't see the fly on fly cam but spin is very nice to donut / music changes and some chor / and some more chor as we hear mulan / 3t came out forward after about 2 revs / spirals carry good speed on coe a little slip right at the end of her last spiral / music picks up for strt steps that match it / 2a laded way forward but hung on / we're back to the familiar mulan melody for the layback / bad pick on z and it didn't go anywhere / combo spin to end the program / new pb for free / into 2nd overall /

Notes: Music: Giselle white strapless with skirt that is too sheer / some ballet type chor to start / 3l / 2z / flycam is good / 3s hung on to it / music has slowed and a bit of chor to the violin / walley 3s / 3t 2t / layback with foot to head / coe spiral in catchfoot is good / 2a / diag steps are chor'd to the music but quite slow / 2a fell out steps 2t / combo spin to end the program / into 1st overall /

(you might notice that I'm not really describing the 'normal' combo spins -- if there's anything really special about the spin I'll describe it more fully. Otherwise it's primarily a cam, sit, layback with change of foot somewhere in there )

CAN Amelie Lacoste Start No: 5
Notes: Music: Romanza black with silver curvy lines radiating from one hip / some chor to the opening bars is nice / 3l2l / 2z / 2f / back cam starts the combo spin / strt steps are ok - with music / 3s think a hand went down - not really sure / coe starts spirals - good edges - leg extension could be better / 3l step out / didn't really see the fly on the flysit / 2a / by the way her leg isn't wrapped tonight / 2a bit of late turnout 2t / flysit to end the program / she was paying attention to her music throughout the program and there were some nice little chor bits that I didn't mention / into 1st overall /

SUI Bettina Heim Start No: 6
Notes: Music: Bond & Scorpions medley orange at top with zig zag to deep maroon to purple to blue on skirt / some chor to start / 2-1/2 flip landed on 2 feet / 3s fell / 2a2t as music picks up / death drop is big and the spin is very fast & low - nicely done / 3t fell - rotated I think / spirals start with side split hold foot as the music slows / 3t slid off landing edge / 2a landed on stiff knee 2ft / layback is fast with quite good pos / 2f 2l fell on loop / music really picks up for O ftwrk that is dynamic & with the music / back cam starts the combo spin and she almost fell out of it but got it back to complete the spin / into 5th overall /

FRA Nadege Bobillier Start No: 7
Notes: Music: La Lecon de Piano black lower dress top is mainly illusion with startegically placed 'leaves' / 3s2t / 3t pitched way forward on landing / 2a / flycam with great extension & lovely layout & layover pos / some nice chor to piano melody / sal didn't get off ice turns 2t / layback is centered with nice arm movement / spirals start with catch knee coe / she has a nice presence on the ice and I like her general movement / 3t fell? Not sure what I missed - was busy writing / 2a? / strt steps / 2l / combo spin is well done - nice pos / into 3rd overall /

I will post after every couple of skaters for the rest of the competition -- I won't make you wait until the group is finished. I just wasn't quite organized enough to post after each one in the 1st group.

Notes: Music: Tango (Bond) Gold lame with black geometric lines black elbow gloves / some tango chor to start / 2a as we hear the cars crash / 3s / 2a2t2l - her axel is nice & high/ combo spin starts with very nice camel pos / some tango dancing in place / spirals with coe in 1/2 beillman right into 2a2t? / 2a fell / sorry think I missed something in there or got something wrong right after spirals / 2f / 1a / layback is ok / strt steps as we hear the tires squeal - with the music but not very interesting / flycam to beillman fly isn't great but spin is quite good / free 68.3 new pb / tot 108.5 into 2nd overall /

Notes: Bond Medley wearing black halter with grey design / 2t / 2z turns 2f / spread eagle 3s2t / fly change foot sit is quite good / 2a / pause for change of music / 2l bit of turnout / layback spin started out pretty good but really travelled when she pulled her foot to her head / spirals are ok / 2t / combo spin nice open leg pos then scratch at end / 2a hops turn 2t or 2l - didn't see take off too close to my side of boards / O ftwrk isn't quite dynamic enough for the music / tot 101.63 into 6th overall /

Notes: Music: La Valse by Ravel very light mauve / 3t2t she has a bit of a delay before she roated the 3t - nice / 3s / 2a with a big smile / there's been a couple of nice chor bits / 3t / layback with arm variation & foot to head / 2f2l / combo spin / stag jump started the O ftwrk - I haven't seen one of those in a while / 2a bit scratchy on landing / coe starts spirals and ends with Y / 2z thought about putting a jump on it but didn't just some turns / flysit that I didn't see to end the program / free 71.87 new pb / tot 110.17 into 1st overall /

Notes: Music: Black Hawk Down wearing black with wilver curved lines radiating from one shoulder / a bit of chor to start / 2a / 3s2t / 2a bit unsteady on landing but clean / flycam is fast with quite good pos - no donut - yeah / 2z2t2l / 2f2l / layback is centered and quite fast - pos a bit weak / music change to soft & slow / 3t / spirals start with coe in side split that she went into so easily (right in front of me) lovely amplitude & extension on the last spiral / 2s / strt steps as music has changed and starting to build again - they're ok / combo spin to end the program / 67.43 in free tot 105.78 into 5th overall /

Notes: Music: Mission Impossible 2, libertango - red with black semi sheer over top / some chor to start / 3t at least that's what was planned - I didn't see takeoff / lutz didn't happen - bad pick I think / combo spin / loop didn't gett of ice - single / spirals start with back coe in beillman / 2a / 3s / flysit - no real fly or tuck spin is ok / tango beat starts up / 3t think free foot brushed going through 2nd jump didn't really happen / I didn't see the strt steps / 3s2t2l / layback with foot to head & beillman ends the program - nice spin / 73.71 in free tot 113.82 into 1st overall /

Notes: Music: Otonal mauve dress with layered chiffon skirt / some nice movement to the chords of the music / 3l / 2z - too slow into it / 3t2t / layback strt leg sideways to strt into foot to head into beillman - very nice spin fast / 2s / coe starts spirals / 3l turn 2a / 3t / flysit is soso / strt steps right with music big movement at start to match the sweep of the music / 2a2t2t / back cam starts the combo spin that ends with nice beillman / she's very musical (or at least this choreography makes her look musical) and expressed the program well - enjoyable to watch / 90.15 in free tot 129.?? Into 1st overall.

Notes: Music: Danse Macabre dark red velvet with one black semi sheer sleeve / some chor to the opening violin chords / 3t pitched forward 2t / 3s2t2l nicely done / 2a2t / death drop fly is nice spin is ok / some chor now / 3l poss 2ft / music softens for spirals / 3t / layback is good centered - nice speed nice back on strt part / 3s / there hasn't been a lot of chor in this program - just some little bits / 2a / strt steps are with music & use whole body quite good expression / combo spin to end the program / coaches are very happy (I'm sitting just above where the coaches stand when the skaters are on the ice and to the right of the kiss & cry) / free 80.69 new pb tot 122.81 into 2nd overall

Notes: Music: la Cumparasita hot pink & black with black elbow gloves / 2a / 3l2t not really steady on either landing but think clean / 3z / 3t free foot brushed going through / flycam with nice fly & nice extended pos to donut / 3s fell out hand down / music is now ahhhhhhs / spirals start with coe in 1/2 beillman little unsteady on edges / 3l / 2f2t / layback was fast with pretty good pos but travelled badly / O ftwrk is ok / combo spin to end the program / there really wasn't a lot of chor in the program / free 75.12 new pb tot 120.90 into 4th overall .

Notes: Music: Firebird orange with red feather effect across chest and red on front of bodice / layback right off opening pose is quite nice / then spirals all to familiar soft opening music / 2a / and now the music builds with the crash / 3l bailed after approx 2revs landed on 2 feet / 3t way under rot hard fall / 2s / combo spin / a bit of chor as music stops & starts to build again / 3s not quite sure if she fell but definitely a step out & hand down / 2f2l / strt steps - didn't really see them / 2a fell out but might have stayed on one foot / flysit to end / a disappointing skate after skating quite well in qualifying / free 60.78 tot 102.83 into 12th overall /

Notes: Music: The Feeling begins, lost temple, harem brown skirt with mostly gold design on top & gold lame 'bra' / 2a / 2t2t / a bit of chor / 3s2t / butterfly backsit is very nice good low pos / music changes & slows and some chor / 3l / 3t bit tight on landing but think clean / spirals are a little unsteady on edge / layback starts sideways with unusual arm pos to strt back to foot to head - very nice spin / sal didn't get off ice - fell / O ftwrk has crowd clapping to music and the ftwrk is quite good / 2l2t / combo spin to end the program / free 76.81 tot 121.05 into 4th overall /

And the last warm-up group is on the ice. While they were waiting to go on, I was completely surrounded by Japanese photographers trying to get pictures of the skaters before they went onto the ice. Tatanya took a picture of the hoard of them

Notes: Music: The Mission Dark green with silver sparkling on bodice - very pretty / some chor to start - nice movement with music / 2l / 3z very low landing free foot went down kind of quick / I didn't really see the layback / 3f / spirals have quite good edges, pos a bit weak / 3s / 3t2t / flysit is good / strt steps are with music but I think a bit simple / 32t2t / falling leaf spiral 2a forward & wild on landing but held it 2t / combo spin to end the program / Parts of the program were chor'd nicely but other parts were too much back & forth skating (for me) / free 83.77 tot 135.14 into 1st overall .

Notes: Music: La Bayadere took a long time getting into pos - looked kind of tight to me wearing purpole two piece effect / 3z fell not sure if rot don't think so / fly sit is very good with pos variations / 3f 2ft heavily not sure if rot / 3l / combo spin is her usual very good spin centered, fast with excellent pos / 2a / popped flip / axel turned into a bad waltz jump / crowd is clapping now to encourage her / bad pick on lutz and it didn't get off ice / strt steps are ok / there is a fair bit of chor that I haven't mentioned / spirals are her usually excellent ones - I don't know about their placement in relationship to the music though - putting them at the end of the program works because they're so good, but the music isn't right for them (IMO) / layback spin to end the program / free 73.82 tot 124.18 into 3rd overall /

Poor Alissa. Eighth-best FS of the night, so far, with only 4 skaters to go??? GULP. I see that she got the highest presentation scores, by far...but her technique kills her. Sad.

I'm rooting for Mao to rally in this last group. She skates last, following, Kim. GO, MAO!!!!!
