Notes: Music: City of Veils dark red velvet with lighter bands around waist / 3f3t / 3s / layback with foot to head - pretty good spin / some chor / 3z (flutz) huge squeal from coach / 3f fell out then fell / some chor as music changes a bit / spirals / she is expressing the music for the most part / 3l bit wild on landing and I hear the coach cheering again / think I missed the como spin / strt steps / coach is telling her something as she comes around here and Aki nods and says what I guess was yes / 3t / 1a then 2a step out / and I didn't see the sit spin either because I was too busy writing the coaches reactions which were just as much fun as watching the program / free 78.30 tot 126.15 into 3rd overall /

Oh my...USA assured of a medal!!! Christine remains 1st, with only Kim & Mao left to skate!
Nana Takeda is very interesting - she has the top LP of the night so far...but was only 16th in the SP...so she is probably going to end up 4th overall. What flip-flopping!!!
I keep wondering how Katie Taylor would have done here...as she won Four Continents, in which Christine came in tenth. Well, COP has shown us that anything can happen from competition to competition. Nobody wins on reputationsor medals of the past.

Notes: Music: papa can you hear me turqoise / some chor to start us off / 3f3t nicely done / and some chor / 2a / death drop with very nice spin / some more chor / 3f / layback with almost flat back to sideways to foot to head very nice / ina into 2a 3t with bit of shakey landing / 3z2t2l bit shakey on loop and had foot down / spirals are good / strt steps right out of spirals are very flowey & with music / 2a / 3s / combo spin to end the program and boy that went by way too fast -- that was a very nice program - all kinds of chor bits throughout that I didn't mention - was enjoying it too much and had to ask Tatanya a couple of times what I had missed ! / Mao is going to have to skate for the gold - Yu-Na laid down the gauntlet ! / free 116.68 new pb by .05 tot 177.54 into 1st overall

WOW!!! A whopping 42 points separates #1 (Yu-Na) and #2 of the moment (Christine)!!!!
GO MAO!!! Can she do it??? She needs more than 121.44 in LP to win...ooooohhhh. Kim got 116.68 in her LP.

Silly question: does the winner of jr. worlds still compete at worlds or is that something I've created in my head? For some reason, I remember that upon Sasha's debut at Nationals it was said that she needed to win jr. worlds to compete at worlds because of her age... is that correct?

Just goes to show, when you put all the emphasis on the jumps they get harder to land when the pressure is on and everyone is watching. Hope MAO doesn't end up like Ando.

As for this result ~ wow! I guess that made all the "Mao will win the Olympics!" arguement a bit void, huh? Not that surprised by the result but that score is scary... Is this the end of an era? If the US can only muster a bronze along with a 30 point difference ~ I'd say that's serious cause for concern. But then again, will these same skaters be able to compete at this level for a long time? Will we see another generation of Kwans & Slutes or one of Kirks & Andos? Should be an interesting time...
