For sure, Rochette's PCS compared to Nakano's today were right IMO, which just means in the short where there was even bigger performance differential for Nakano's short compared to long, then Rochette from short to long (especialy with that glaring fall for Nakano in the short) the gap should have been even more per average PC mark, and yet Nakano mysteriously was higher in the short.
I found Mao's dress and her overall performance are better.
Of course, not speaking abt the jumps, still flutzling and no triple axel made me a little disappointed.
I am looking for ward to see what will her rival Yuna Kim produces next week.

Well since he/she has been banned for awhile I doubt much. He/she actually came in under a new username and was banned again.

So proud of Joannie for improving her Lutz consistency, but her spins still need a lot of attention. Her centering and speed are not where they need to be on those spins. Great fight from her though overall! Sad about the pops late in the program, but it's still early in the season and she had enough tech content here to medal.

lol...I love how you (Slutskaya) brought up Caroline since I'm a huge fan of her, but I was not only referring to her but the skaters in general: Kimmie Meissner, Miki Ando, and the rest of the eleven skaters that were downgraded on at least one jump. I noticed that some of her Emily's jumps were not downgraded here like they were in SA, and they were CLEARLY underrotated. Also, I don't see how Nakano's 3A was ratified, but whatever. Mao really skated well, but she I really like how the long brings out the grace and fluidity of her movements.
That's what the "e" means?
OTOH, judges were extremely generous to Nakano. Hmm..

She still had the basic quality and lightness to her skating, but she was far from her best.
I think the marks for Yukari were about right...she doesn't flutz or lip, and the wrap is canceled out by her good height and landing.
I'm really glad that the judges are finally penalizing flutzes and lips appropriately. Mao's flutz is absolutely atrocious.

I love Caroline's skating too, but I think she might be advised to redo her jump technique. She is so young she could easily do that, and she is more then talented enough to if she commits to it. Or atleast tweak it a bit, maybe not redo it but she could alter it on some jumps especialy the lutz and flip. I think the judges havent liked the trend of such younger skaters coming up so fast in winning big titles with flutzes and cheats, so they are going to be very stringy on young skaters with iffy jump technique. I thought they were too hard on her at Skate America, but I think they might continue to be if she doesnt fix her jump technique.
Actually you are right, speaking of the overall field they were much tougher at Skate America then here. Hughes especialy they were much more leniant on, she is a good barometer since her jumps were similarily iffy here in terms of rotation.
She was not, still the smoothest all around and light but it is not so difficult with someone built like her.
I liked more Rochette and if she did not botcher the least two jumps, I think she would have won it.
If you mean jumps, absolutely not.
Also, still no expression from her face at all as usual.

I thought Mao did really well, but I'm a little skeptical about the downgraded 3L (As far as I know, prerotation is required for this jump...Kimmie, caroline, and Mao all prerotate before the jump, and they were all downgraded)...she lacks the speed that she had last year, but she is so graceful. Her flutz is still prevalent, but overall, she was wonderful

Joannie should have had the silver here. Nakano was held up in the SP BIG time!
Mao's tech content was underwhelming IMO. 5 triples to Joannie's and Yukari's 6, plus she had the flutz, the underrotated 3loop in the combo, and lacked the much hyped 3Axel.
