Irina Slutskaya: "Totentanz"
3lutz/2toe loop-clean (being conservative by not doing the 2 loop)
footwork into nice 3 flip (big smile)
nice difficult entry and exit out of 2axel
level 4 camel
footwork sequence (not eliciting as loud cheers as the top 3 so far)

I just got in and am listening on Eurosport. Sounds like Irina ROCKED!

The Americans so far doing well in the ranks Kimmie 1. and Emily 3.

Go Sasha!

3lutz (a little lean) /2toe loop-clean (did not lack on the 2 loop b/c of lean)
footwork into nice 3 flip (big smile)
nice difficult entry, back inside 3's, and exit out of 2axel (best of the night??)
level 4 camel
footwork sequence (not eliciting as loud cheers as the top 3 so far)
Bielmannia!!!

Vinluvskwan, I can take care of the reports if you want.

Well, I guess that answers the question as to whether the judges were going to overmark Slutskaya....and it's a big fat YES! She skated well, no question, but not that much better than the rest of the field so far, IMO - it's been a very well-skated event so far. Looks like the judges want to put her out of reach after the short. To my great disappointment.

Silvia Fontana

Double flip-double toe :cry:
Single axel
Fastest spins so far in the competition
Beautiful spiral sequence
Missed the other jump? Sorry.
She looks sad, but appreciative of the audience's support; a class act.

TES= 19.87
PCS= 22.60
Total= 42.47
She's 18th.

Irina's scores are high.........was her skate and tricks really that much better than the rest of the field? 42

I'm not so sure. We still have some of the top names to come so they probably want to leave some room in between Slutskaya and the rest of the field to fill in Arakawa, Cohen, Kostner, and Suguri.

Not really. I've seen. There's only a 2TL. She was on the verge to lost her balance twice, once in the final pirouette. That's definitly not a triomphant Slutskaya. She was good, had good speed and a lot of energy but that was far from perfect.

And silly me thought they were going to give the actual point value of the skate.

Wow, Shizuka is just making the Euro commentators swoon and drool:biggrin:
Her music "Chopin: Fantasie Suite" is just sweeping. Very possible flipping (lutz instead of a flip). 3z/2toe (last minute change from 3z/3loop). Should have been penalized and she got lucky with 65 total.

Oh no. Then she was overmarked? She's got a huge lead on the field so far. :(

I wonder how Arakawa will do?

That's part of the point of the new scoring system....They don't have to "leave room" for anybody. Slutskaya was overscored.

SHIZUKA ARAKAWA

3Lz-2T- didn't have a solid enough landing/enough speed to do the 3/3
3F- very nice, didn't seem lipped or cheated
Spiral Sequence- very nice
2A- beautiful
Straightline footwork - very good
I like this program a lot better than her old one, despite the fact that her old music was the same as my short program music!
All of the spins were nice
Seems very happy with the skate.

TES=35.93
PCS=30.09
Total= 66.02!!!!!!
She's 2nd behind Slute. SHE'S LESS THAN A POINT AWAY!

That's for the element score. The component score is much more flexible.

To me, Shiza's flip was cheated. CBC showed the replay and I called it 1/2-1/4 turn cheat.

FYI: the technical specialist is Canadian Michael Slipchuck

It's so nice to see that this is actually going to be a competition! Slute's definitely not going to have the "three-fall lead" that Plush had going into the long. What's even more encouraging is that these ladies both skated very similar programs and received very similar scores, so hopefully that means that if Shiz skates a long program that is better than Irina's she will get credit for it.
