she singled the axel, and, well my memory aren't that good, but she definitely had a major mistake in teh combination...
So happy for Fumie!
And she just seem to love skating and really skates for the audience, not for a medal or the jury.. and no biellman..

Was it just me, or did Slutskaya seem a bit "grumpy"? both after the results and in an interview afterwards. Very short answers, and seemed a bit irritated. .And she had pretty much the sama PCS as Arakawa and even lower than Cohen...don't think this is what she expected, is the russian sweap really going to happen..? I hope not, go Japan! :agree:

edited to add: And congrats to Kimmie and Emily! I'm surprised. And look! 3 Japanese ladies and 3 American ladies in the top 10. I know many have predicted that, but I wasn't sure it would actually happen.

As you can read at the middle of this thread, she was a little bit shaky and she was really disappointed at the end of her program. You could see it on her face. She lost her balance (a little bit) twice. Her spirals were not as great as usual. But she was good and she had great difficult elementsEngwaciriel said:

I told you that Sasha would fight for the gold and fight she did. I hope she can continue on Thursday and I hope the other top ladies fight for it too. Probably not. The way she goes into the lutz may be unusual but I don't think she spends more time gliding on her outside edge than most other skaters. It has never really bothered me. Her entry into the flip is like many eastern european, the real problem is that she does a lip, but so does Arakawa. Furthermore, even if the judges wanted to penalize her for too long preparations, they could only do that by giving her a slightly negative GoE on those jumps. I don't think that deserves taking points off her component scores.
I'm being supportive to Elena Liashenko tonight, because her program appears as worthy as those of Emily Hughes or Kimmie Meissner, and she doesn't even end up in the top twelve.

To finish the evening (European Time), I'd like to say the competition was nice but I would definitly like the ladies to use their music sometimes. There is no choreography. They can skate on a blues, a polka, a movie theme, a classical theme or a flamenco, the choreography stays the same, we can see the same postures, the same gestures. That's so boring. It's nice that the girls' competition has improved to a better technical level. But I'd like them to try some choreogrphy. It would help the public to get interested.
