Ladies Short Program

IF 10 out of 12 judges are europeans... it's time 2 say "bye bye 3 spots" for the US

BtW... I believe in no miracles, but I hope for the best next year

Thank you. I think this is the FIRST neutral post I've read on Carolina in this thread. It's sad to see all the Carolina bashing. It makes me stop reading this board.

Count me in as another one who is disgusted at the horrendous bashing of Carolina. She's an incredible skater and I cannot understand why people are so negative about her!

I'm disgusted by it too. All the focus is on the negative (what skater at this year's Worlds was perfect?), nothing about all the positives in her skating.

Bring more europeans in this forum.

Though I can't say I enjoyed watching Carolina's LP, I love her SP performance and like someone mentioned, she wasn't really telegraphing her jumps this time.

I have no problem with her TES. But her pcs was definitely overscored IMO. She shouldn't have received higher marks in Execution, Choreagraphym and Interpretation than Yu-Na.
But I have to say I really appreciate your positive perspective as usual. It really calms me down after drama.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree that Yu-Na should be ahead of Carolina in those areas.

I thought her PCS marks were pretty fair. She definitely has a different style than Yu-Na, and the music the two used couldn't be much different, and so you wouldn't expect Carolina to have the same delicate, lyrical, flow-y kind of choreo that Yu-Na had. Caro's was definitely different, but I don't think it was worse than Yu-Na's. But, I really like skaters with powerful, aggressive styles and programs that are a little out of the ordinary. In terms of execution, aside from the landings on some of the jumps, I think Caro executed everything really well, just as well as Yu-Na did. She had some great positions on her spins, her spirals were well done (love her speed and edges on the spirals!), and her footwork was so unique and very well done!

I definitely do NOT agree on Caro's spiral. Fabulous edges, incredible speed, but she struggled to get into the final position and that was NOT pretty. I think Carolina could easily win out on choreo, but a sloppy performance doesn't add to the PERFORMANCE mark. Yu-Na had a costly error on the lutz and her salchow was suspect, but her performance as a whole was heartfelt.

I'll agree that Caro's last spiral position wasn't the best, it did take her a few seconds to get into it. That being said, Yu Na doesn't have exceptional spiral positions, either. Other than on some of the jumps, Caro wasn't sloppy. Her footwork and spins and first two spiral positions were done very nicely, not at all sloppy, and I think her performance was just as heartfelt as Yu Na's.

Probably cuz it wouldn't hurt to have a few European world medalists going into next worlds and Olympic both held in NA.

it is not the Isu fault if Europe has many countries, while north America has only 2 countries...
I think many people are blaming the poor performance of the US girls to judges, while it's actually them who self distructed. Remember that the sp standings did not really matter since everyone was so close...

Now, next year at the same time, when the podium will be Nagasu, Zhang, Yu-Na (just making an example) even if the two girls don't have thesame maturity as Mao, Yu-Na, Kostner, Rochette, etc, noone will say anything.

Last year everyone was "against" Asian skaters. This year, recognizing that the Americans were not strong enough, it's the Evil Europeans...Dont' worry, the European egemony (which honestly I don't see at all) will be already over next year and at the olympics...
