Grr got downgraded :scowl:

She didn't get downgraded, she didn't do a 3-3, her lutz didn't have enough speed coming out of it so she did 3-2

Mirai did a drop dead gorgeous skate and it was choreographed to perfection. Screech, what were you watching???????????????? i prefer her skating to anyone elses in the competition. She is stunningly graceful. her positions, spirals and spins are to die for.

maybe my TV is a little off but they JUST finished showing her skate and haven't brought up scores. anyone els watching NBC noticing this?

How do you know Mirai got downgraded?

It didn't look DG but I'm not the tech specialist. :scowl:

Nice some Simple Plan @ K&C

Belgian girl scored 46.10 and with that Tugba just joined the 24!

1) Mirai
2) Johnny's Angel
3) Baby Yuna
4) OZ
5) Yan
6) Tugba

did Mirai get an edge call or something on her lutz? Grr I really like the fact that we can see the protocol right after the score are announced but the protocols only show dg calls, not edge calls.

I almost wondered if NBC was going to show her :disapp:

She skated clean though, no falls! Bloody nose loll. I think this was a good Olympic debut for her!

We can safely guess it's an edge call, judging by the -GOE. If it was a downgrade, she'd be bleeding points.

Mirai did not get downgraded. Clear inside edge take off resulting in a loss of 1.20 points. With a 3-3 she could have hit 66+...

Nagasu seemed so mature taking a Season Best score at an Olympic debut. Maybe she/Frank were expecting better?? Either way, this is a girl that was CRYING after CoC SP. She's really matured this season.

Ah good. But where did the negative GOE come from?

I thought you could sort of tell she realized in the middle of the combo she wasn't going to to a 3-3 and then she was a bit bummed and it affected the her performance a bit in terms of expression ... but not in terms of landing the rest of her jumps! wow! Hopefully Mirai will start getting the reputation for solidity she deserves.

clean. but nervous. well, for her first Olympics - kudos. very well done. Didn't do the 3-3... But wow, what a way to nail everything in her first Olympics!!

Thanks - I saw it Live on NBC.
Is the score OK - compared to the others so far?
I was hoping her score would be a little higher but since I am not watching it is difficult to gage

At least her score will be held up for a while (pending on the Euro girls). My dream is to have her on the final flight! :)

Yeah she likely got "!" (maybe "e" but I think the GOE would have been lower) because of the GOE, if it had been downgraded it would have been worth like 3 points or something, so she got credit for the combination. I still think that's a great score for an international competition, and her Olympic debut nonetheless

I think she was bummed she didn't do the 3-3.

Ok, funny: Gizmo's height is listed as 1.80m (5'10'', though 5'10'' is 1.77m) on the Vancouver site and 1.67 on her ISU bios...

Russian commentators said there was smth wrong with it, I don't remember, either UR a bit or not perfectly landed

I'm not sure she was actually planning the 3-3 there. The pre-competition media indicated a 3-2 and NBC's judging application had it as a 3-2 as well. They probably figured the Olympics isn't the best time to test out a shaky element even if you aren't all that worried about your placement.
