Mai Mihara

A nice little gif made by a twitter account cheering Mai on for her GP events: https://twitter.com/comewhatmai/status/924618430854004736

I'm excited to see her this weekend, and see if she can build off the momentum from Japan Open. Also I'd love to see how her SP has improved from ACI, I feel like her performance and presentation in general has really improved this season.

i am more nervous than excited to be honest, i know she is pretty consistent compared to many girls here but Japan showdown is so nerve wracking :dbana: and its not even nationals yet :hopelessness:

Not sure if this has been posted, but someone uploaded a runthrough of Mai's FS from Autumn Classic. Always impressive to really see her speed across the ice, and it's nice to compare this to JO to see how much she improved her expression just in that short time :luv17:

Hope she stays healthy and level-headed for CoC. The ladies' field is so deep :eekn:

I love Mai and I'm so rooting for her to do well this season. I really want her to go to the Olympics because not only is she an amazing skater but she makes you want to root for her even more after hearing about her troubles earlier in the quad. I'll be so nervous watching her skate this weekend! Please skate well Mai!

The ladies field is so deep for CoC..I just hope she hits all her jumps and does well.

Wow -- this competition is a mini Olympics already!!! Wishing Mai all the best in the FS.

I've just watched her SP and I loved it:love: Such an improvement since ACI. The moves were sharper and she sold it much better. A pity about the UR:(

I know she'll bounce back but I'm afraid that with this competence it'll be hard to get even to the podium, starting in the first group is a big problem.

By the way, her short is the most viewed on youtube among all the girls that competed today:)

I feel want cry since the SP😢

I know she is a strong girl, with clean skate she can break 200+ pts for sure

Oh she did so well, I cried when I saw she was out of the podium :palmf:The chances to get to the GPF are gone now, unless miracle. And the Olys spot... I'm suffering a lot for her, she didn't deserve that place when she almost had two perfect programs :sad21:

Mai :( :( She deserved to be on the podium instead of Lena. The fact that they didnt call Lena's UR in the SP is horrible. She just needs to kill it in her next GP to show JSF that she is consistent and a great skater. Wakaba + Mai in the Olympics would be amazing. I hope it happens.

The good thing is that she's still above Marin, so at least it's more likely that she will get the 2nd spot. Her TES is amazing, slightly above Wakaba, but what happened with the PCS...With her skating skills, it's really unbelievable...Her TR is still in the 7s, hopefully she will add some transitions before GP France.

i have so much to say that i made a list in case i may forget  but 1st thing is 1st, congratulations Mai for 2 great programs and climbing up to 4th place (should have been 3rd but :slink:):yahoo: she is always a joy to watch, Tracy said during her performance that her artistry is unrefined in places but its very heartfelt and sincere, i couldnt agree more, that what makes her so endearing, warms your heart and makes you root for her

its so great to see her relationship with her coach, they seem like a family, its so geniune, i loved when she waited for her coach to slap her back before going out at SP then she nodded her head like "ok, now i am ready to go"

apart from 2A what a LP it was (and that 2A might have caused her podium, well apart from being underscored on PCS :slink:), her celebration after 3"rippon"S and at the end was so cute :luv17: she keeps improving in every aspect , whether its PCS side or TES, she is adding new transitions, i have to say though i think her current transitions are overlooked for some reason, dont know whats the definition of transition for some people because to me she seems to have nice transitions and doesnt rely on too much crossovers yet has great speed and flow throughout the program (as mentioned by many commentators), also she hit all her levels!!!! but looking at protocols she didnt get 10% bonus for her 3F, it was so close at JO so i hope they will look into it and be more careful cause as we see every point matters, looking at the comparison video she jumped a bit early (and she started moving earlier at Autumn Classic which may also be a factor),
there is also SP comparison video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrrOUPVW9Cs

on a more shallow note, her hair esp in the SP is spot on finally!! dont like side braids at LP that much but overall looking very mature, well done!!:luv17:
