Speaking of bonus, it seems that she lost her bonus for a combination in the second half of the program, because someone had cut the beginning of her music? If this is true, it must have been very hard for her to focus, too! Congratulations!

She said she started too early.

“The reason was because the very fast music, the piano part, actually didn’t come in…it was a technical problem I think,” she explained. “There was like one or two seconds before I started. I had to start because I was confused. I was thinking, ‘what shall I do,’ but I just started my performance. That is the reason that my combination jump was slightly early than (after) one minute and 20 seconds. Those things happen and it was one of those days, so I just put it aside and at the next competition will be more careful.”

I really understand it as some notes missing at the beginning, so she had to start with a later note.
Had she begun too early, her combo would have remained in the second half, logically.

I'm late, but so so happy for Mai! I was devastated for her when Japanese Fed did not choose her for either Olympics or WC last season, so seeing her in Sheffield winning Grand Prix gold medal is just pure joy for me. Hope she'll have great second event and will qualify to GPF, because she deserves it! Also I want her cute interactions with Kaori
