"The Last Axel" is the last attempt of the figure skater Tanya to make the most difficult jump both on the ice and in her life. After the sudden death of her father, a house tyrant, Tanya comes to Moscow to get into the team of an equally tough coach and to compete in the World Figure Skating Championships. Winning the championship for Tanya is not a pursuit of success, but a desire to find freedom for herself and her younger sister at the expense of a sports grant."
