I'm so happy Mao is coming back! I am praying that she will remain injury-free.

Technically Mao is not a cut above the new generation of her strong competitors right now, and to regain the stability of a triple axel at competitions is even harder for her. I don't know whether this is good news or bad, but I sincerely wish her good luck!

According to tweets from Mao's conference,

1) she will go to Canada to have her program(s) choreographed
2) she will only return to competition after she has regained the level that she was at at World 2014, at the very least
3) she doesn't know when her comeback competition will be
4) she may skate her short program at THE ICE
5) right now, can't think as far ahead as Olympics

Looks Like it will be Lori Nichol for both programs, Lori always picks nice pieces for her.

Here's hoping Mao makes it back to tip top shape and overwhelms us again with more legendary performances. I certainly salute her hard effort to come back after all she has given.

Looks Like it will be Lori Nichol for both programs, Lori always picks nice pieces for her.

Lori will be a good choice. How about Jeffery Buttle? His choreo always looks both lyrical and intricate.

^ Reportedly Mao will visit Jeff in June, to have a collaboration program (with Joannie Rochette and Carolina Kostner) choreographed. I agree, it would be cool for Jeff to choreograph a solo program for her as well (at least the EX).

That's good. I hate a halfhearted comeback and it doesn't sound like she'll be doing anything of the sort.

I have the feeling she will pull a Miki Ando somehow. Trying to get back on top, but failing.

Her big advantage over the last years was without a doubt the 3A that set her apart from the rest of the field. Since she was the only lady to do it she often got the benefit of doubt for it, though it was not fully rotated.

Now the judges can compare. Liza only showed a few triple Axels toward the end of the season and they were ALL ratified, two of them with massive GOE. The rotation issues on her other jumps remain the same I assume. No reliable 3-3 and a triple Axel that has strong competition with Liza's now.

OMG, i really hope this happens! Wish it was my Yumalina trifecta but this would be awesome too!

I love your optimism I think this is a good thing for the sport, it will push other skaters to have better programs and work on the details, because there is a chance they might be compared to Mao's artistry.
