Max Aaron

He was smiling. <3

:luv17: :agree: Smiling already before taking his bows.

Plus then ... Max's SP PCS was a Personal Best .

Previous: SP Component 11.09.2014 38.95 U.S. International FS Classic 2014
New at Four Continents: 40.71

For the FS, Max will skate second in the final group, which is Group 4.
Warm-up for Group 4 starts at 15:37:30 local time on Sat Jan 27.

BTW, it pleased me to see that USFS had used Max's photo to promote the Four Continents SP :

ETA:

And Jackie Wong used Max in Les Mis costume as @rockerskating's thumbnail photo for Four Continents Men's SP tweeting, such as:

Thank you, Jackie :).

Post-SP quotes:

Max Aaron (USA) 2017 GP China bronze medalist

It was a little shaky on the first quad toe combination. But I really just come here to perform, to give a great performance that everybody enjoyed.
I feel like I gave a good performance. Not technically perfect, but an enjoyable performance. And I’m looking forward to Saturday again joining that performance, and making the crowd enjoy, and just show what I love to do. Coming here is more like that I can perform and enjoy, and so I was able to do that, and I’m really happy about that, and to end the season this way, on this note.

*perks up a little hopefully* To end the season on this note...just to end the season? Is there an implication that there is a next season? Or am I reading too much into everything in my desperate hope....?

Very nice photo of Max and Jason before the SP :ghug::

A sorta companion video to the photo is in the U.S. Men thread:

Wishing them good luck for their free skates :yay:.

"To end the season" made me sit up and take notice too.

Totally understand the wishful thinking (which I share :agree:), but I think it's impossible to tell whether Max intended to imply anything.

@isufigureskating Instagram story just added a cute photo of Max -- ready for practice along with Han Yan, as they both give thumbs up.

*laughing and crying*

He was perfect. Well, not quite perfect. But he was great. And he was smiling. All through the ChSq he was smiling. He was so incredible. I'm so proud of him.

Please, I beg him, stay a little longer.

The Instagram story of @andrewtorg29 has pushed me over the edge and made me cry :sad4: with admiration for Max.

The story shows a screen containing an image of Max on ice, smiling :) after his wonderful free skate.
With a clock graphic showing that the time was 02:59 am (east coast time) for Torgashev.
Plus a message that reads, "The things we do for friends." :ghug:
And @maxtaaron is tagged.

I already was a fan of Torgashev, and now I like him all the more. :yay:
Very cool that he was awake in the wee hours :bed: to watch his friend Max.

And I love your post, karne.
Because of the streaming issues, I have not seen Max's full FS yet.
But his smile was everything. :luv17:
Sooooo happy for him. :hap93:

Wondering what he was saying to Becky in the Kiss and Cry?
The last things that my ears could catch were her asking something like, "So you're glad you came?" ... to which Max nodded affirmatively and said something that I could not hear. Plus then some other stuff too.

This link should work, ice coverage, to Max's FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuMUUcQfg6o

I did not hear all of what he said - a lot of it was very muffled. But I am hoping that it was nothing that suggested this was the last.

Meanwhile, sadly, our Max has been stiffed out of a gala invite. I shall proceed to feeling annoyed about it - but nothing can dim the brightness of his FS and his pure joy.

Max's post-FS quotes from the ISU:

Max Aaron (USA) 2017 GP China bronze medalist

I feel great out there, I just wanted a good performance. I enjoyed it, try to finish, and looking forward going home and spending time with my family. (on the competition) I love Taiwan, it’s great there, and I was just happy to give a performance I guess, you know, U.S. championships was tough and I was left off the (Olympic) team, but I’m excited to be here to perform one more time in the season. (On next plans) I don’t know yet. I take every season year by year, so after this season I want to go back, relax, just enjoy with my family. Whether I want to continue on competing or whether I want to step forward, and retire – I really just take it day by day right now and feel how my body feels and my mind.

Thx for the link. :thank: (Hadn't looked for one, because I was going to wait to watch on NBC.)

I'm sure that you and I feel the same -- would look forward to future Max competitions if he decides to continue, but also would be very happy for him if he decides to move on to other things that he is excited to pursue.

For now, hope he will have some relaxing time with his beloved family.

I hope he gets that relaxation time as well, and enjoy his time with them.

But I do hope that he doesn't just silently fade away if he does choose not to continue.

@usfigureskating Instagram story shows Max and Grant having a nice one-on-one moment at the Four Continents banquet.

They are seen in the background of the photo with Ashley Cain and Mariah in the foreground.

Thanks again to karne for the video of Max's FS.

Thrilling to see him land his quad-triple combination, and then I could not stop smiling throughout the rest of the program.

What a great skate skate for Max last night - it was really electric, and it was wonderful to see him smiling!

I'm so glad Max finally skated awesomely! I just wish he could have been on the podium. So happy for him!

Kailani has a great :o: picture of Max in her instagram stories (@kailanicraine) from the banquet last night!

It was such a great skate and it was amazing to see him so happy and relaxed after finishing. I dearly hope this is not his last competitive program, but if it is at least he went out on such a high note. I know we will all love and support Max with whatever he decides his future holds. :ghug:
