http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20160408/911608173.htmlRussian figure skaters Elena Radionova, Evgenia Medvedeva and Maxim Kovtun became part of the European team at the Team Challenge Cup, according to the official website of the tournament.
That was awfully sad - I was hoping he'd be able to redeem himself in the free. I actually like that program, and I think he still held together the performance as well as he could - but with all the mistakes it was painful to watch such a nightmare for him.
So true. I'm not the biggest Kovtun fan, though I admire his talent, but I really felt so sorry for him after his FS. You never want to see any skater, let alone a skater with his skills, bomb like that. My seat was near the K&C, and I saw him still sitting there despondently for a very long time after the scores were read, with his coach doing her best to console him. My heart went out to him, and I hope he redeems himself to himself for this last competition.
So the rumour was true. There was talk about this right after Worlds.Kovtun is apparently switching to Goncharenkos group.

Fist link basically says he left Buyanova. Second link has Alexander Kogan stating that the transition is under discussion but nothing is official at this time.
