I didn't find Jeff was slow or his "performance level" was that affected by his jump mistakes. Seemed to me he still sold the program, perhaps a bit "going through the motions". But I would take Jeff going through the motions program anyday over what the others put out there. Positive sign, he did a great t-axel. Seemed like a mental meltdown more than sign of his fitness level. I think he will be back with a strong program at some point before worlds. I wasn't that impressed by the new Joubert/Kurt look either. Seemed like same old Joubert program to me.

and I still think Dai and Brian have the edge over Steph.Lambiel is rarely clean, Joubert is headcase and could go either way, Takahashi has not proven much yet but I would put my bet on Dai. Just because I am biased
Well I love Takahashi a whole lot - I keep screeming that he has the best use of arms and hands of all of the men (with maybe one exception, my bias, I won't bug you with it) - and I just love his rythm (sp?) and flow --- like I said, I'm flexible (actually, I just love so many of these skaters!!!!).
But, I will just add that Joubert was simply not a headcase last year - and that's what troubles me about today; I hope this was his 'off day' for the season and he gets that control and focus back, it was an impressive improvement last year for him. And, Takahashi is reigning world silver medalist, no? So, he's proven himself.

I think you need a couple of more season playing at the very top with all its pressure to prove that he can be deliver under pressure. Takahashi does not have that just yet, this season will show. Joubert can go from spectacular season to total crumble.

Let's not label anyone a haedcase yet. But what you are saying is true. It has been a long time since Lambiel has skated clean, and Takahashi delivered the most clean performances since last year. Joubert was very consistent last season, and IMHO, he didn't look too well today, so I wouldn't call him a headcase. Regardless of what the record says, I still prefer Lambiel and Joubert over Takahashi. I believe a great skate has to be beautiful and/or magnificient, which I personally haven't seen from Takahashi. Many fans seem to be in love with his new SP, but I just don't find it inspiring or beautiful, although difficult, creative, and well executed. I actully like Arakawa's swan performance better LOL.

I don't think it's wise to underestimate Lambiel at all. He has been attempting 2 quads in his LPs since the 2004 season and his quad is one of the best in the business. Only Joubert has been more successful with his quad attempts. Lambiel is an artist and an athlete. His question mark is consistency, but if he puts it all together, there's no question in my mind that he is the best in the world!

I do not think that we can tell who will win Worlds now. M. Joubert had a gorgeous short yesterday (my opinion), really great, without mistakes, excellent flow etc. Today was not his day. But if I remember correctly Mr. Takahashi had also an amazing, though less difficult short (concerning the jumps), but a rather shaky free and was beaten in the free by Mr. Lysaceck. The Men's competition is really good right now, I actually like it. But my dream would be Lambiel being really clean for once, preferably with his absolutely amazing and enchanting free program from last year - but please, clean! And a clean Lambiel would be really hard to beat.
Thanks...I forgot about Carne Cruda -- i saw a clip of it at some point late summer or ealier fall i think; Is this LP new or is it ---I hole my breath hoping -- his Flamenco Lp from last year?
I would never underestimate a 2 time world champion either!
Yes, Poeta is the flamenco program from last season. He only used it in competition internationally that one time at the 2007 Worlds.

My impressions from the CBC coverage.
Best costume -- Vaughn Chipeur. He looked like he just strolled in off the street and decided to go for a skate. No bangles, bobbles, and beads for this boy!
Great performance, too. Again, sort of like the local boy just dropping by the skating rink for a good workout.
One question, though. He did two triple Axels and made no attempt at turning either into a combo. The second one had a bad landing so he couldn't have done a combo anyway, but the commentators kept talking about, I wonder if he'll try a second triple Axel, this will be the first time he has done two, etc. So this made me think that he deliberatel blew off the rule that says a repetition of a jump must be in combination. he would still get 6.6 for the element, after the 10% bonus and the 20% sequence penalty.
Christopher Mabee -- Great showman, reminds me of Steven Cousins. Land a few more jumps, Chris.

Joubert -- Stinkeroo. I am trying my best to like Brian's skating. Here is my advice to him: Fire your choreographer. Get some music that isn't just random cacaphony that after a while blends into annoyingly loud white noise. Lose the toe-tappy crap in your first footwork sequence.
KVDP. MY MAN!!! Go Kevin!!! That's the way to show everyone what figure skating is all about. Just jump up a storm, then jump some more. Spins? Footwork? Why pretend? Interpretation and choregraphy? Don't let any of that irrelevant stuff distract you from doing your job!
The men that took a stab at bringing something to the table besides jumps -- Buttle, for instance -- look what happened to them. Don't let that happen to you and you'll be fine. (Check out Plushenko, for instance.)
