Men's Short Program

The second group gets underway!

Pavel Kaska
Sugar-plum fairy remix

3Z-3T! A bit of a fight on the 3T but complete
2A, nice and light
3R clean as a whistle with 3turns going into it
A rather slow combo spin
Straightline sorta simple but nice flow throughout
Nice low flying sit, but a bit slow
Circular step, a bit more complex and a bit slower
Great change-of-foot sit with nice low positions

FINALLY, a CLEAN performance! That was a lot better than I expected when the commentator said "A modern version of the Nutcracker". The 3R was perfect.

57.41 - 2nd. Not the most difficult content, so I think that's fair.

PJ Kwong - she is from Mississauga. She used to always announce Canadians / Skate Canada / Worlds and has now moved on to commentate for CBC Country Canada. She knows tonnes of languages. I think she is a dance coach as well.

I seriously love her a lot, her voice, her pronuciation of names, her knowledge...sticking to the elements...wow.

Christopher Mabee
Adagio, Spartacus, and I forget

GORGEOUS 3F-3T!
Stumble-out on 3A...*sigh*
Nice sitspin, losing speed towards the end
Straightline step builds with music
Very nice 3Z
Nice split jump to music
Circular steps...his programs are dfeiniltey the most complex so far save Abbott
Nice fast change-of-foot sit
Combo spin slow

Nice program, pity about the 3A.

66.50 - 1st, and well-deserved. Looks like the 3A was called a fall.

I really really like Chris Mabee's new short program. Too bad about the wild free leg on the 3 axel causing the fall.

I thought his edge quality would put him ahead of Vaughn, despite the fall and I was right. By less than a point though. So happy for Vaughn!

Yannick Ponsero
Otonal (sigh)

3A - skiddy take-off but great height and nice landing
4T-stepout-2T, well he almost had it
Nice combospin with good speed throughout
Ina Bauer into lovely 3S
Nice flying sit, slows with music
Serpentine step to music, very smooth turns and made to look easy
He has great stretch on his camel, into catchfoot, change of foot, another catchfoot
Circular steps also very smooth, but a minor stumble

Otonal is a tired piece of music and it always make me think of Maria, but this was a good performance.

67.09 - 1st, it was close with Mabee but Ponsero is just a bit more fluid and smooth.

He said he misjudged the landing of the quad when he was in the air.

just ahead of mabee.

GOOOO JEFFFF!!! HOLD THE NERVES TOGETHER!!!
