Mirai Nagasu

I love that our girl keeps going for the 3A, even in exhibitions! It's now or never. She either goes for it or she doesn't - and I am so happy that she's going for it!

Mirai knows she likely has to pull out something extra special to boost her chances of making the Olympic team. She still has to get the other triples around of course but if she can pull off a 3A in competitions this year as well as bring improved expression, transitions, etc. to her programs she's got a shot!

I personally feel she should do the combo first and THEN go for the 3A - like in her FS!

Mirai hashtagged her 3As #MajorKey. They are but she also needs to be consistent with the other jumps on the GPs and hopefully place extremely well in those events!

Her 3A attempts in practice are VERY close to being all the way around - I think if she can just get a little bit of extra speed going into it, she can nail it with no question on the landing! I don't know if it's just me, but she seems almost languid going into the jump - imagine if she was going into it full speed!

Can't wait to see a vid of her second exhibition SP where she apparently did 3A, 3F-3T, 3L!:cheer::hap10:

OMG ... here is something really cool :

Renowned journalist/Pulitzer Prize winner/activist Jose Antonio Vargas apparently is a Mirai fan.

wow thanks for sharing the video from THE ICE! It's a shame they didn't film on a night she landed it, I think there was at least one night she hit it no problem, but still awesome to see.

Here's hoping this is Mirai's best season yet!!

I am super psyched Mirai is going full on 'I want to be in the Olympic' mode this early , and the 3A!! :hap10:.

Indeed may be just MAYBE, she can be the 'I am the first Olympian in my family, going TWICE'!!!

Get the media on her side is half of the battle, so any positive press is gladly appreciated. She has an uphill to climb, but she might just make it if she continues to stay focused, keep the momentum going especially the chest beating bravado. 'Me Mirai, you Olympics' battle cry!! Land a few 3As if possible. Everyone loves a good come back! Especially from THE underdog.

I have always dreamed Mirai will finish on a high... please please be well and take care!!! Hope you end on a good season.

I'm honestly so excited for this lineup, my two American faves Karen and Mirai?? I feel so blessed let's hope they both do well and are compeitive enough with both Medvedeva and Zagitova because they're probably the two competitors to watch out for the whole season along with the darkhorses Marin and Mai !! This is probably only the early part of Olympic season but I'm already exicted ahaha !

So excited to see how fierce Mirai is looking this season and love both of her programs! Happy to hear she will participate in the Japan Open.

Hah that is pretty amazing!! :agree:

Even more than the triple axle, I REALLY like Mirai's LP to Miss Saigon. That red dress is perfect! She has the usual Mirai "stone face" during the program but that is more appropriate for that theme of music. The 3A was very good and I was a bit surprised that she got dinged on the GOE. Not all the other under rotations were not as obvious to me but I guess they wanted those jumps high and clean. Hopefully, this will not be a return to "over scrutinize Mirai" at future competitions. As long as everyone is held to the same standard, it's fair. This LP has a ton of potential.
