Nathan Chen

Thanks for sharing all the reports and links! Guess I will keep checking this thread every 10 minutes till the end of men’s freeskate.

Please don’t forget us fans when you play guitar in Japan Nathan! :luv17:

Little bit concerning, seems no coach at all for team Raf skaters today. Last year, both Raf and Vera were with them.

It's a bit weird, well have to see if he shows up tomorrow.

And I'm not stressing about layouts like some people. He wouldn't do the 4S if he didn't feel he could. That 4F needs to be behave. :dev2:

Nathan must have been really tired at this second practice. Hopefully he gets good rest tonight!

4S seems to be ok. Two backloaded 4T3T?! So much for ‘It’s basically going to be identical as Nationals. I haven’t trained anything else.‘:p

Hope all is fine with Raf and Vera:pray:

Nathan’s arrival at the airport yesterday and at today’s official practice - on Japanese TV:

Nathan Chen appears to be living up to his nickname of the 'Quad king' — he attempted five quadruple jumps in his free program practice skate this evening. He did, however, fall during his first quad flip.

Earlier, after his morning session, the 19-year-old told the media that he wasn't worrying about his rivals.

"Every single skater here is amazing, you can’t count any one out. If I focus on other skaters, I end up doing really bad so right now I’m just trying to focus on myself."

Maybe that was the planned layout for Nationals? He did admit to removing the quad salchow as a day of the competition decision.

“It’s going to be basically identical to nationals,” Chen said of his program in a conference call. “I haven’t really trained anything else, so unless something super surprising happens the week of (worlds) it’ll be basically that.”

Despite the hectic schedule, the 19-year-old Chen says he has no regrets balancing skating with student life at Yale.

“It was just an experience I didn’t want to give up on before I even tried it,” Chen said. “I’m really glad I gave myself a shot to attempt both. I’ve really, really enjoyed myself in college, and skating has been going well too, so I can’t really complain.”
