Yes. Rika needs to be clean (and have 3A ready) to win, considering how tight the results are.
I hope we’ll have videos, I want to watch Mako’s program. :)

Happy Miyu advances in the free. I did not expect grand things from her (she really needs to get 3-3), but at least she’s both SP and FP. :)

Sunday, not Saturday.

Oops! Thank you, I edited my post. I probably got confused since the Ladies FS starts on Saturday evening my time.

23. 吉岡詩果 (Shiika Yoshioka)
3F3T\x3Lz\ x2A
54.43 (hm....I thought Shiika was quite promising from regional and sectional)

IMO, Shiika IS promising. Maybe because I've never seen her skate, she's been the Jr. Lady I've been most excited/curious about all season. Judging by her results, she's a consistent and strong jumper with impressive combos but her scores are usually held down by her level 2 step sequences and mediocre GOEs and PCS (though I noticed an increase in her PCS at Sectionals.) Since spring, she's been very consistent in delivering her FS so I'm hoping she skates clean at this competition as well. With the scores so close, Top 6 is still a possibility for her. Honestly, I was selfishly hoping she would be in the final FS warm-up group so I could see her perform during the live broadcast.

Scores are usually low in japaneses juniors competitions.

Exactly~ When the Japanese Juniors compete in international competitions (particularly JGP events) I've come to expect about a 10 point increase in their totals compared to what they generally score domestically.

Is he eligible to be chosen for senior nationals if he places high enough?

I don't believe so. As a novice skater Yuzuru placed 3rd at Junior Nats 2007 qualifying for Nationals but not invited to participate due to his age. Of course the rules may have changed since then.
I should probably check~

I think it's not just about age. There are gaps in the required elements for novice and senior: for novice FS only 6 jumping passes and no choreography Stsq. I didn't check but assuming the length of the program (in terms of timing) would be different as well.

Yes, I remember usually it's top 6 as well, but there had been exceptions (such as novice skaters in the mixing of top 6)
