Just received my tickets for nationals!!! I almost forgot that they were coming today!!! I ordered them two years ago and now they are here! It is always interesting to see what "first come first served" seats really are. I am in a center section for a change but row T..... that seems pretty high up to me but I am thrilled to be in the center. I have been attending nationals since 1997 and order my tickets very early and end up in the curve sections of seats where it is actually very difficult to see any one unless they are skating at your end of the ice. So nationals here I come!:) :) :)

We should all meet by the USFSA stand after Ladies SP, wearing a yellow scarf to represent Golden Skate and introduce ouselves to each other LIVE.

Cool! Now I'll just have to find a yellow scarf.

how about orange?

Great idea Joe, I will be there. But I too have a dillema with a yellow scarf. Not my favorite color, but I do have 2 orange (maybe even 3) orange scarfs!

hey, great idea. Blues fan orange is close to yellow. If you can't find a yellow scarf how about yellow / gold ribbon?

Got my tickets yesterday!!

I'm really getting excited about this trip, and hope to meet many GS'ers there in person!! Hey - I've got a bunch of yellow scarves!! They are bandanas that say "Cool Dog." :) Wonder how THAT would go over at an FS competition!!

I looked at the Savvis center site, and am sort of disappointed that my seat is on the end of the arena in section 110. For those of you who have been to skating events live before, how bad is it to be on the end like that? I maybe should have bought a less expensive ticket, higher up, but closer to the "50 yard line?" It will be cool no matter what though.

HEY - we need to get busy with a plan for that Whine and Cheese party!! Where is everyone staying?

Has EVERYONE who ordered their all event tickets online gotten them? Because I haven't and I am starting to worry my mail man ate them (we have a jerk of a mailman who never brings stuff to the door and so it always gets sent back to teh sender... we've complained but he says no one ever comes to the door, even though I don't leave the house until 2pm if I leave at all UGH) :scowl:

I placed an order for mine about a week ago but so far I haven't received a confirmation email nor was my Visa charged. I emailed them earlier in the week, they replied that there have been delays because of the holidays but they have given me the confirmation number. They were very prompt to respond to my email, so I don't understand the delay issue.

DG - I think 110 is a good place to seat. I was in STL over the holidays and went to watch the hapless Blues and had seats in section 106 (it was on the side of the opposing team goalie). The view of the action taking place at the home net is still really good (alas, the action was not!). As far as FS, tickets to the last SOI that I got to see were at the end, and we were treated to some spectacular triple axels from Todd, so cool stuff happens at the end too :)

Looking forward to meeting you guys,

I don't have my tickets yet, but I'm sure I'll be on the curve which I don't mind to watch practices but for competitions I want the 50 yd line on the other side of the judges.

If you are on the curve, you may be near the K&C and the ABC site. But you may not have a clear view of them. You need to be a little away from the curve.
You will see skaters with tearful eyes and others showing the joys of a good skate. Watch the coaches whispering sweet nothings into their ears. Others who will stay in the K&C if they skated well and watch the next skater to come up who is the favorite. At the ABC site you will see Gannon fixing his tie; Peggy , Tracy and Dick in their places, and I guess this year it will be Paul in there for the back up.

Oh yes, practice sessions do not have reserved seats so you can get up close, watch and get an autograph as they are leaving. Careful what you say about certain skaters while watching because family members may right be in ear shot.

After the competition you will see some of the skaters while strolling around the main floor entrances. Carol Heiss will look handsome; Todd will look like Todd; Tim will explain what happened about how he skated earlier to a group of Timfans. Most of the ladies will be overly protected by escorts.

Sneak your own sandwich in (not easy with the Americans) and just buy water, soda or beer.

And do sneak around for seats if the arena is not full. Argue about the skaters with people near you. It's fun. However, since this may be the swansong for Michelle Kwan, the Ladies competition will be packed!

Toni - Did I cover it all? Please put your additions down.[/FONT

PS - If any of you are serious about meeting, let's decide on a color and a ribbon which will easily be noted.

We just got our tickets, after 2 failed delivery attempts. I had to skip tennis to wait for them. We have two pair of tickets (credit card foulup- long story). We found two friends to come with us. We have a choice between Section 115 row F, fairly centered, or Section 124 row C, on the end/curve. I find the end/curve nice- a lot of jumps are right in front of you (course some are on the other side). I think if you're fairly close to the ice (say first 10 rows or so) the view is actually better than being in the center, though in Dallas we were row 5 right across from the judges, and that was pretty nice. I think we'll probably take the end ice, closer seats rather than the center. We'll probably be switching up with our friends some, too. Looking forward to it!

Greetings, We just got our tickets & i am so excited to be on the end. We were on the end last year & it is the best!!!! You can see all of the ice all the time! Over in the center you can't see the blades when they go to the corners on your side. I especially like the end for straight line footwork..they are starting right in front of you or coming right at you. You will also have several jumps & spins right in front of you. In my mind the the ends are the best!!Section 124 rowC

ticket holders

Greetings, I have lots of extra lanairds with ticket holders for those of you who don't have them. I find it easiest to have 2. One for your practice pass & one for the other tickets. I can mail them out or you can get them from me in St. Louis. I highly recommend them.....so that you have your tickets around your neck at all times. I did see a woman who lost her tickets last year. State Farm was giving them away in Dallas & Atlanta had their own but there were none to be found in Portland. I found a bunch for sale on ebay when we got back from Portland so I went ahead & bought them. Glad to share!

you covered it all... sneaking was fun last year even though I felt so guilty lol

it was also fun getting to talk with the judges sitting around us, we got a first hand look at what they were looking for in teh entire package.

and as for color I am ok with yellow so long as I can just wear a ribbon lol scarves aren't really my thing :) (and hey I wear an obnoxious leopard skin print jacket to the competition so I'm easily spotted [on busses too lol])

and I guess this year it will be Paul in there for the back up.
According to a report on kurtfiles.com Kurt Browning was named to the nationals commentary team... I am soooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to that

also, early practices you will see Peggy, Dick, Peter, and Doug Wilson (the director) hanging out near the cameras not in the K&C... watching, taking notes, and joking around. Doug Wilson can be mistaken for Dick Button, but trust me it's not always Uncle Dick...
