Nebelhorn Trophy 2013: Sep 25-28 [Oberstdorf, Germany] - Olympic Qualifying Event

I loved Glebova's new FS program, kind of disapointed to see that her score was that low, but I will probably have to wait for the protocols..

For those wanting Eurosport commentary, the football on Eurosport International 2 is running late. And there is LIVE boxing on Eurosport International 1.

HOWEVER, the skating IS being shown on British Eurosport 1.

Here is a livestream

this girl from Latvia, I don't mean to be cruel, but she is perhaps the worst artistic skater I've ever seen. No style, this program is fug city and she just stood still on the ice twice for several seconds. Blurgh.

Also her body type is not the most elegant for a skater...

Is her coach Peter Grütter? Does he not slightly resemble a disney villain?

Boy, did the Phils Federation make a mistake sending this girl. She looks like a cute junior and up-and-comer, but I can't help that think that Melissa Bulanhagui, for all her weaknesses/inconsistencies, could have put up a more credible fight for an Olympic spot.

I don't think either had a chance. At least this gives her a chance to gain some international experience, which will be valuable for her going into the next quad. I do see potential and lots of it if she can get the jumps solid.

Maybe, but this has been a somewhat surprising night so far! I thought Sonia was a sure thing for a spot, but that didn't happen. I didn't think skaters like the Norwegian lady or this Czech lady would be in the running, but here they come.

Well, you have a point there. If their Federation decided that chances were slim even with Bulanhagui, and that building a long-term program for the future was a better choice than a short-term grab at the 2014 Olympics, then the decision does make some sense. And this girl does have some nice characteristics in her skating already.

ETA: Did anybody find her coach's stroking of her leg in the Kiss & Cry a little bit squicky?

AS IT STANDS: The top 6 of those contending for OLY spots:

Inga Januleviciute LTU 134.74
Juulia Turkkila FIN 121.82
Fleur Maxwell LUX 119.71
Reyna Hamui 117.31
Alina Fjodrova LAT 116.50
Alisson Krystle Perticheto 113.48

Still to skate:
Elene Gedvanishvili 51.59
Elizaveta Ukolova CZE 50.93
Isadora Williams BRA 50.35
Kerstin Frank 48.81
Brooklee Han AUS 48.74
Anne Line Gjersem NOR 48.35
Kaat Van Daele BEL 47.87

Basically LP scores in teh 83 (Elene) to 86 range would put them all above Januleviciute.

Of course that is unlikely, but ice is slippery.

Say what you want but i like her style. She even found her smile today, that was great to see.

The girls are really nervous today...

Such a pity, but also the crowd is not really supportive - was a lot better the past years, maybe it has something to do with the new course of the ISU. :(

The family atmosphere is gone ...

I'm super curious, what about her "style" do you like?

Hey off topic, but the upcoming Belgian skater Kaat Van Daele provokes a question: Whatever happened to Ira Vannut?
