The Cherrios boxes will come with a line in which you can cut out the word "Cheer", personalize it and mail it to the Olympic Village. The postcards will then be posted on a wall for the Canadian athletes to see. What a great idea!

I wonder who are the people who come up with these ideas. maybe we should ask them to join the isu:p

Just Canadian athletes?? I can't send my Cheerios carton to Sasha or Alena or Miki or Mao or Johnny or Daisuke or Ashley or Javier or (the one who bewitches me) Nobu??

General Mills is a US company, located in Minneapolis MN. General Mills Canada is a subsidiary.

If General Mills Canada can promote Canadian athletes, then why can't parent company General Mills promote US athletes?

General Mills CANADA is a sponsor of the Canadian Olympic Team. Obviously this campaign is for the Canadian public to send our warm wishes to the Canadian athletes and have them read them at the Athletes Village during the games. I don't see why this is an issue...it is a great idea.

cuuuuuuuuuuute....

anyone know of other sponsorships with skaters besides this and mao/yuna?

Patrick is also sponsored by McDonalds. Joannie has quite a few big name sponsors: World Vision, General Mills Canada, Joico hair products, Bell, Cold-FX, and Molson

Inoue and Baldwin are sponsored by AFLAC. I guess I could send them a duck dinner?

(supposing they make the team)

I agree and think it is very nice. It is possible General Mills could follow or copy this in USA. But we have to remember that Canada is the host nation for next Olympics and it is natural that the Canadian Oympic sponsers do things like this. I like the ad alot and also the idea.

Patrick is still young compared to the other top men. He is going to get better as a skater and most likely become more media savy.
