So Milania and Filippo split. Milania has written twice thanks to Finnish federation. Either that means she thanks the Finnish Federation for welcoming Filippo, or she is ready to represent another fed. I was thinking if she wants to go to Olympics, but it will be too soon and I cannot think any Finn man who could switch to pairs, though there are several male skaters now - but it can be never known if there are surprises. As Dr V said when he tried pairs "Finnish skaters are too big for me" I think we should not count him as Milania is 160 cm.

I think new ones are Maisa Uutela and Saaga Volkova, both juniors. Oona O is out, not surprising as she has not had good current season. I wonder if she still continues or will she retire. Dr V is on the list, which probably means he will continue. Edit. Matias Heinonen is marked as new, too, but he has been there before, not just during current season. He will be age eligible both in juniors and seniors next season.

Oona posted an Instagram story last month that she was getting short and free program choreo with Benoit, so sounds like she’s continuing.

Soon a Norwegian pairs team? Camilla Gjersem joking about doing a comeback as a pair skater with Alex Johnson, they just had some fun skating outdoors, but seriously have some potential. Also the fact that they matched their clothing so well just by coincidence makes me think they are meant to be a pairs team

Sondre has found his passion for pairs elements on Disney on Ice.



It´s probably not going to happen, but Sondre and Camilla both showing interest for pairs and would be so fun if they ended up teaming up and returning to competition as a pairs team for Norway. It would actually make perfect sense. But I think Sondre is going to keep touring for Disney on Ice.

It seems like she was born in Germany to presumably Swiss-Italian & Swedish parents (based on her being able to speak Swedish & her last name being Italian) & that she was raised in Switzerland (and will continue to primarily train there).

Daniil just landed a quad sal in practice today, yet again - another historical achievement as the first Norwegian skater to land a quad For me it´s also looked pretty clean. He really has done huge improvements lately.

Daniil also shared on his story that Frangipani is in Norway now and with him in the rink. I´m guessing he is a choreographing a new program for Daniil again.

A real surprise to see Anita Östlund among the accepted entries for the 2025/26 Swedish national series.

In senior men, no Gabriel Folkesson or Jonathan Egyptson. Not sure what's up with that, or if it has any real significance. It's just customary that everyone, including national team members, sign up for this. Even if they don't necessarily plan on skating at any of these national ranking events (but Jonathan did two last season). They're both coached by Tamara Kuchiki if that's a clue.

Also, Oliver Praetorius is back.

Finland's summer competition will take place next weekend. Important competition for skaters as they give host GP spots and maybe some CS also based on that competition.

I noticed Selma Välitalo has ETK after her name as her club, so looks like she has left Oulu. Not updated on her ISU bios yet and so is not the new(?) coach but my guess is Alisa Drei. Probably wise decision to skate with other national team members. In Oulu she would not had same level skaters. Edit, it is updated now some hours after I posted this and it is Alisa.

Olivia Elin Phillips competed in cranberry cup where she finished 7th with 147.05. She looked like she can do more. Smooth skating, and I hope she is training harder jumps. Anyway she will certainly compete against the best in Sweden.

I have no idea of in which form Anita and Nina are. And how the other women on the swedish team have been training during off season or what their goals are. Last nationals was won by Josefin. Julia Brovall and Olivia were second and third. But there were juniors scoring higher than them. One was Alexandra Ödman who now competes in seniors. I admit I don't know much about the Swedish women skaters but I think it will be more exciting to follow them this season than lately.

First descision for the Swedish fed to make is who to send to the olympic qualifications. There aren't many competitions before that for someone to prove themself. I'm sure they will send Josefin if she's fit. She is known and has lots of experience. I have no idea which skaters she must beat there? Petrosian will take one spot and then four left. Fierce competition and I predict lots of emotions in kiss&cry!

I checked the results and . Nella should really have been there. All others had disaster skaters, but Iida and Olivia were only only ones at national team leve though also they had made mistakes. Janna and Linnea, ch dear. Pressure and early season? If I was the one who makes GP decisions I would choose only Olivia now and give others one more chance, including men.

Finland has almost similar rules to big competions as before, but there is one change: At least one competition must be late season competition, so two good skaters at the beginning of the season will not be counted any more. Finland has still not announced who will get the GP TBD host spots. Usually they do the decision and inform about it quite quickly after the competitions are over.

Daniil isn’t senior eligble before next season. Which is probably okay because it´s won´t be easy to grab the remaining spots in Beijing. The good news is he has a whole Olymic cycle in seniors to build reputation and make progress both technically and artistically. Also by then he has probably adjusted his growing spurt and technique better. I´m sure we will already see him at Euros next season. The last couple of months he has landed both 3A and 4S in training, so he is making incredible progress. Technically if he can land it competition it´s not unlikely he can make it to Worlds in his first senior season as well.
Btw - watch out for him in JGP Riga tomorrow, he is skating the SP and might try the 3A already. In that case it would be a historical moment as he would be the first Norwegian to land it (it´s about time, right Axel Paulsen? He has a new FP as well which I´m excited to see.

I´m a bit surprised to see that they don´t have a sub for Mia. Linnea Kilsand would have been a good option, but probably there are some requirements she didn´t fullfill.

Reitan/Majorov going must mean that citizenship is still possible for Milla before February, I thought it would perhaps be too short time. Since the other senior team split there are really no other that could go for them in Milano - and I don´t think Swedish Fed would spend a lot of money on sending them if chances of citizenship were slim. From last season ISU best - they are actually the 5th best team, and since Finland won´t use their second spot now there are 5 spots... So in theory they can make it. But the teams behind them are capable of beating them also so it´s going to be a thriller for sure. It seems like they won´t do any comps before the qualifier unlike other teams and I think that is possible a disadvantage for them because of early feedbacks on programs and chance of adjusting.

Women senior team is really looking strong and interesting this year. I´m excited to see Anita return on her own terms. I felt like she retired way too early. Hopefully she will get good support from her partner Alexander Majorov.

Yes, they know in advantage it is difficult because Yuka should have regular income. When you are professional athlete whose main income are maybe sponsors and scholarship and maybe some temporary jobs, it will not be counted as regular income.

Finland has third pair in seniors - other are skating in juniors though some would be age eligible and probably could not reach the TES anyway. They have same problem as it is said in article, Matthew Sperry skating with Daniela Ivantskiy does not have citizenship. But I trust they are able to reach EC minimums (if they have not yet) so Finland is able to have three ID pairs at Euros.
