Olga Mikutina

I just stumbled across a 6-minute feature on Olga on the Eurosport Player. (Probably also accessible via discovery+). Nice watch, shows some of her training on the ice, she talks about moving to Austria etc.
Is it the same video as the one the Olympic Channel uploaded to YouTube yesterday/early today?

Olympic channel video above - it's a lovely little piece on Olga.

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely video! Olga is such an inspiring young woman, not only on the ice, but she also seems to be incredibly smart and determined. Her German is almost flawless, very impressive considering she didn't speak a single word when she came to Austria. It must have been a culture shock coming from a big industrial city to a tiny town surrounded by mountains.

I am very happy our country is represented in figure skating by such a fine athlete at the Olympics!
Good luck, smooth ice, and clean skates Olga! 🍀⛸️ :cheer:

From the ISU homepage: Olga about receiving the ISU Junior Skater Scholarship in the last two years.

“Figure Skating is a very expensive sport, therefore any financial help does not hurt,” stated Mikutina, who received the scholarship in 2019 and 2020. “The funding by the ISU gave me a lot of advantages. First of all, we were able to pay for a summer training camp. There, I was able to prepare intensively and productively for the new season,” the two-time Austrian Champion explained.
She felt that being selected was like a reward for the work she had put into her career – and a new motivation. “It was an additional motivation for me to train and to improve, to reach new heights.” She used the second scholarship for getting new programs and for private practice sessions to improve her jumping ability. Mikutina placed in the top ten at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in 2021, which was the best result for an Austrian Figure Skater in 24 years.

The ISU Scholarship helps young Skaters to make their dreams come true and to develop further in their respective ice skating disciplines. While the spectators around the world celebrate the stars of today, the stars of tomorrow are growing.

“I want to thank the ISU for supporting young athletes at the beginning of their path and helping them to reach their potential,” Mikutina noted. “It is very important that not only experienced and decorated athletes receive financial help, but also the ones that are just at the start of their career.”
