Finally a Chinese team that skated to their own music! House of Flying Daggers score, oddly enough. And lol at the Finnish team skating to Monty Python's "Finland!"

Poor German team. Though they've posted the highest OD mark so far, due to the fall they suffered in the CD they are currently right behind the projected cut-off mark for the top 24, and would probably need one of the next six teams to make a major mistake in order to qualify for the free.

Hi. I was wondering on the icenet if it takes a long time to buffer. I can get the sound and picture of ice but no skating. Any help would be appreciated

Evan Bates suffered a stumble and was tense and off the entire time, and I've got the feeling they're not going to be leading in about ten minutes time. Samuelson and Bates could very well be the next American team, but they need to work on their nerves. Also, I think something might be wrong with Eric Saucke-Lacelle's leg; he was favoring one of them over the other when he and Routhier left the ice.

A less than spectacular final group, I fear; M&T blew things big time on the twizzles, the Czech crashed on the lift, which I think might have then gotten counted as extended when it took them a few too many seconds to get her off of him, and to top the event off, Madison Hubbell slipped in the last part of her and Keiffer's OD(thankfully it wasn't on an element, but they were lucky the Czech crash left them with noone to drop behind). Now to win M&T would have to beat S&B by over four points, and the judges seem more charmed by the Americans even when Evan stumbles!(They do have charisma, certainly)

Anybody who believes you can have 'fair judging' needs to look at these numbers I just compiled... Looks like pro-Russia panels at JGP circuit is now being replaced by a pro-NA panel at Jr. Worlds. Maybe the complicit charge at JGPF is not just a rumor?

When I turned it (late) on there was a Russian team skating very well but carrying on like the Capelletti's uber schmaltzy love duet. How did they turn out? and what are their names?

Joe

Well..... despite his season off broken ankle and despite her hitting a rut and falling, the Hubbells yodelled their way into 5th place and hanging in there. They didn't go under.

The top Russian team made a BIG mistake in the original dance though. The judges had the top Americans/Russians close together before that mistake.

I would have put Crone/Poirier first over Samuelson/Bates in the OD. But both teams are great, and I'm glad to see them 1 and 2.

JGPF judging panel: POL, CZE, CAN, RUS, UKR, GEO, USA, JPN, ITA

Half of the JGPF panel (5 of 10 judges) was from former SSRs and Eastern Europe, and those 5 judges all gave blanket support to the two top Russian teams, and lowballed all the others. Of course the top Russian teams had much higher scores there! Meanwhile, the US teams, the Canadian team and the third Russian team were severely undermarked; their scores dropped precipitously from what they'd scored in their JGP events.

Riazanova/Guerreiro got an OD score of 46.18 at the JGPF from the Russia-friendly panel. Why? Some think Russia #3 had to be sacrificed to get the ITA and UKR judges to back the top two Russian teams, and RUS, UKR and GEO kept the ITA and UKR teams out of last place.

JW judging panel: GER POL FRA AUS SUI USA ITA CZE RUS CAN UKR BUL

At JW, again 5 judges are from former SSRs and Eastern Europe, but 7 judges are from other areas, so the panel is more diverse and less stacked in favor of Russian teams. However, I don't see that GER, AUS, FRA, SUI and ITA are necessarily friendlier to US and CAN teams than they are to Russian teams. They just don't work in lockstep the way the EE and SSR judges tend. They tend to give higher marks to the teams who perform better.

If Maria Monko hadn't had such a severe balance break (she almost toppled over during the twizzle section), Monko/Tkachenko probably would have had a slightly higher score than what they received at the JGPF. But as it happened, they had a mistake, and it was a big one (they had a similar mistake at Russian Jr Nationals and lost to Gorshkova/Butikov).

 Yay for Crone & Poirier! This has been a real breakout season for them, especially with their performance at nationals, and a medal here would just be the icing on the cake. I havn't seen this performance of their OD yet, but I loved it at nationals. Of all the teams, theirs felt the most like a folk dance. Good for Samuelson & Bates as well. After their accident last year, It's great to see them doing so well here. Good luck to everyone in the FD, and may the best team win!
